I wish I knew where to start or what I want :)

Ok, my plan is to be alchemist with pet owl, so I will start with that.

Anyway, would it be possible to divide crest into three areas like this (art is not mine)?

I would like to have owl charge at the top and scales (I like those from generator) and mortar (something like this without Rx, art not mine) charges at the bottom areas. I also like blazons with border, but I have no idea what colors I should use. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The field division is called "Per pall" and yes is totally workable.
First question: What is your favorite color?
How bout your favorite color combination?
From there we can start playing around with some designs for you.

That type of division is called per pall, and we can definitely do that.

Putting a charge in each section, yes.
I don't know if we have an owl, but if somebody can make one in the correct style, that would be great.
    Scales and Mortar, sure.

Blazon is the description of the emblazon. We can do borders around the emblazon.

So, if you visit the Start Here thread, you will find a link to the color palette.
maybe some colors will jump out at you.

    Thanks for your fast responses.

Well, I was playing with generator and I liked rather different styles (e.g. sable or argent bordure). I especially like Gold on Sanguine and I also like Sable on Draconny, Sable on Argent and Argent on Sable... I did not see anything with Phoenixy.

Yeah, phoenix was one of the newer "furs" we added so has not made it into the generator at this point in time.

Any college art types want to grab this one?

No, no. My lunch hour is over.
I also cannot do the furs.

I need to learn to let this stuff get picked up by the heralds and artists.

What? You guys are so fast:)
I love the charges. As for the colors. I would like argent border. I actually like azure on the top with white owl and that owl is awesome. I would try Draconny (if phoenixy is not possible) on the right with black mortar and maybe sanguine on the left with golden scales. I guess that darker blue is not possible on the top?

I was just throwing up an example. The owl and mortar are just stolen from the internet. We'd have to have somebody make charges for our use.
We really need one of the artists to pick this up and try to make the colors you prefer.

I was thinking more about my character (hence the new name, Mortier should be Mortar in French), CoA and so on. I was also playing with blazon builder, but I still do not know how to properly put charges on chevron, I do not know the proper syntax:(

I would probably like something like this or this (I am still playing with colors though). Instead of scales/mullet I want owl and instead of chalice I would like mortar and pestle in the final design, and I would like to try different furs (serpenty or phoenixy).

Anyway, for now, what is proper syntax for putting charges on reversed chevron?

I don't know proper syntax. The builder didn't come with instructions.

However, I use the builder to make the field, and then I use MSPaint or Inkscape to put the charges where I want.

The builder doesn't have a syntax for anything with a chevron. There is no chevron in the list of supported ordinaries. :) We can still work with you to create what you want though. We're not limited by what the builder can do. It's just there so people have an easy to use way to create basic designs, to help them get an image in mind to get started.

I might try that, but then I will have to figure out where to store images:)

Anyway I found some instructions here, but I did not figure out how to use them in my case.

I see. Thanks for the reply.

So you know, if you wanted to add charges to a supported ordinary like a fess, you'd put the charges in parentheses right after the ordinary's color, like this:

    (argent fess vert (ankh argent))

Grant's Generator allows more flexibility for placement of charges.

Move charges by drag and drop.

Could someone help me to place white or gold owl (where did you steal it from Frank?) and grey mortar and pestle with black fimbriation on this field?

For the owl, I just googled and searched images until I saw something I liked.
However, somebody would have to draw a heraldic version, in the proper SVG format.
So, anything you come up with can hold the place, and show the intent. What winds up in the game will be different from whatever we come up with here.

I'd like to say the colors look fine, but the overall design has to be voted on.
Nothing jumps out at me as looking wrong.
