A few hope quick questions. One how do you sell stuff, I could not find any vendor in the starting area to unload loot obtained. Could not figure out how to get a coop game going with a friend, didn't have time to try the multiplayer portion and hook up with a friend as they got frustrated. I did try multiplayer on my own and finished the opening area and when i left i see other people on the map, but how do you group in the game and play with someone? I know trial is up, was thinking of pledging but i like to ensure all the basic features i want are there - only thing i really want it to have the option to play with friends from the start of a new character ? So don't want to sound dumb, but it wasn't that intuitive in game to get me on the right track and i don't want to through comparison out there of newer games, but even in old games it wasn't this hard like UO and DAOC. any help or direction to docs would help, thnx
The option to play in Friends Online is kind of bare-bones at this point. Basically what it means is you will only see your own character unless you are in a group with them. If you want to play in this mode from the get-go, as soon as you start you can invite the player to a group by typing "/invite <playername>" on the chat window. For example, if you wanted to play with me you could enter: Code: /invite Jayson Albrecht Once I join your group, and we are both in Friends Online mode, when we go to a multiplayer scene we will be able to see one another. That is an important distinction, however; the opening scene (the aftermath of the battle) is a single-player scene. You won't ever see another player there, but you will once you leave and go to Soltown/etc (or next release, to the Solace Bridge Camp). Down the road, it sounds like they want to plug into social media at some level so you can figure out friends more intuitively (at least, that was an early consideration). For now, just make a group! Hope that helps!
If you are or were in the starting area, like for Courage it puts you in Highvale, there are no vendors. Usually the starting area will put you on to a quest to another town. So for Courage, I was given an Amulet to deliver to a dying knights love in the town of Resolute. In the town of Resolute there are merchants there that will buy your basic loot. Welcome! Feel free to message me in game with questions when Im on "starman". I've also made a lot of videos of me just playing the game, you can get a good idea for how things work. https://www.twitch.tv/2112starman
If you know the name of someone you're trying to meet up with, hit F for your friends list, then type their name in the Add Friend field. Once they accept, you can right click any name in your friends list and whisper people, invite them to party etc.
Welcome Basalisk and to your friend as well. I hope you were able to get your group with your friend started. It is fun to enjoy the experience with someone.
Greetings and salutations basilisk! Glad that @majoria70, @2112Starman and others are taking care of you here .
It looks like you are getting plenty of help/suggestions for your questions. I just wanted to welcome you to SotA! Lots of folks around willing to help. Note that there is another free trial running now through May 31st. @Berek can you confirm that those who have already done the free trial can create a new account and do it again?
Yes, as long as that account is unique. We have saved the previous accounts, so if they want to pick up where they left off, they are free to do that as well.
