Hello, all! I am very new to SotA and can't wait to dive in more. I just wanted to share how great of an experience I'm having with the community, already. I was put on the path of Love and while looking for some iron ore last night (which was very difficult for me to find), a random Avatar running by me asked if I needed any help and then proceeded to point me in the direction of some iron ore to complete my quest.

That was such a great first experience with the game and I can't wait to experience more!

Thank you random player for making my first experience a good one, I wish I remembered his/her name.

That's what I love to hear. How fitting to be shown love on the path of love.

    Welcome Avatar!

Well, as everyone knows, sharing is caring :D

Good to see you're enjoying the game so far. ;)

Hmm, might I suggest that you limit your exposure to "help" or "assistance" from existing players. Too much of either can ruin the game for you at an accelerated pace, ie, burn out, etc.

But welcome, good luck, and most of all, have fun.

This is a good point. I do enjoy adventuring and exploring and figuring things out on my own. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah, it took me a little while to figure it out, but, I think it is the best advice I could give to a new player.

Let them play the game for themselves.

I hope this advice (given to someone who was helped by a stranger) won‘t discourage players from continuing to offer help. I‘ve been playing actively since 2014 and my fondest memories of the game are from receiving assistance from strangers. There are loads of players who appreciate friendliness even if they decline the help. In my experience there is no danger of so much friendliness that it becomes bothersome.

I think there is likely a fine balance to be struck for most Avatars. I enjoy figuring things out on my own, while also enjoying working together with other Avatars and receiving some help on something that seems very daunting. I think its different for everyone!

Pretty sure they were talking about when players dump items on newbies and power level them through the game, to not allow your natural exploration of the game to be ruined by that.

Yeah I highly recommend against that on both sides. The early game is pretty good, don't skip it just to get to the end!

Yeah, I have a couple of friends just coming back to play, and I try to just give some big pointers and let them learn a good bit on their own and answer questions when asked, and not give them an information overload. There is so much to really learn and a good bit of it is not readily provided. Whether intentional or not, it can be frustrating for new players until they get the hang of things.
