what was your focus drain before specialization?

sorry but again specialization is not the answer to taming but hey everyon have fun with it, sad you all do not actually want the skill tree fixed and just accept this mediocrity

Yes you can but you haven't got the benefits of plate. Obviously you like wearing plate for the benefits, if you didn't you would play in cloth.

I used to have more points in heavy than light but i dropped it and now use only leather really...I use flurry a lot and charge attack while at the same time stacking rapid fire which is usually a 30 focus cost to use and either stack aimed shot or use depending on focus amounts. I also use movement and cc and pets cc to keep mobs at bay while sticking on fireflies and hitting with charged shot mostly until i get in a good position ( back shots) and then unleash what i have stored.. I actually enjoy the focus management and it can make a fight agaisn t 4-5 Berserkers/Berega in Grannus fun and entertaining.

I can see you like wearing plate :) but maybe see about getting more int on it or using some cloth fustian pieces, one piece on hands givs me about +70 focus which helps a lot. If plate got the same or close benefits to the light armour trees as well as its own ..id be using it to

I play as a tank, tanking in cloth is well wierd.

I really want better balance for the game, do you really think this is balanced for all play styles?

    Really?

I think what could fix taming is simply a variety of pet types, A bear with a ton of hp and an agro attack that can tank but do moderate/low damage (perfect for a mage) a lil poison frog that has very low hp and can't take any hits but has a mean poison and takes very little focus to have out (perfect for a tank) A cat that can stealth (perfect for a thief type)

I think what taming needs is a specialization that unlocks the ability to have a "Pet Bar" that basically opens up a mini pet skill tree.

The Pet sub tree can have skills like taunt, charge, bleed (small DOT effect), escape (aggro reducer), enrage (higher damage but lesser defenses), Protect (raises defenses but lowers damage), stealth (invisibility until it attacks something), sneak attack (huge initial first strike), etc. More flavorful pet skills could be added, these are just some basic examples.

All of those could be available at level 1 for this specialization so that people can choose whichever play style they want that pet to perform... but as you raise that specialization skill, it opens up more and more Pet Combat Bar slots to put these skills into! Level 1 unlocks 1 slot, level 10 or 20 unlocks a second slot, level 20 or 40 unlocks a third, etc. I would let @Chris be the judge of when to unlock the slots and/or the max number of slots you could have.

I believe having a separate Pet Combat Bar that lets us control what our pet is actually doing would go a long way to help making it a viable play style.

To make things even more interesting, we could level up these individual skills with use, like we do with all other skills, so our pets can grow into better tanks or dps companions. I believe having to put a ton of XP into raising these individual skills (along with the specialization itself) will help balance a powerful taming class against a non-taming class. And, since it would virtually require a tamer to pick both of the taming specializations to be effective... it further helps balance against those who pick other specs.

With the doubling of exp that specializations will now require, and the tiny benefit received post level 100, I kinda feel like what's the point of taming again. Other specs can put points into their main skill tree and get something for it, we get nothing for raising taming skills other than the insane cost for taming specializations, which will now cost over 200 mil to get less than 200 hp on your pet post level 100. :( Now my only hope is pet stats on gear or artifacts.

I have been reluctantly looking at my other choices today. I was not intending to go super deep into the school due to there's only two pets at the moment, Red Spider and Corpion that the combat training and summoning skills affect above 100. Increasing those skills to get the max benefit from those pets will cost a lot of xp and will also raise my focus use beyond manageable amounts for a leather wearer. I was ok with around 288 but raising it another 50 would really put a slow regen on me and limit my other skills. Thus having the 'bonus' to decay for me would not really be worth it as an addition, with low pet hp, lacklustre damage on most of the pets at least and a super high xp cost for skills and specialisation and of course focus cost/neck slot there's way to many negatives for a double increase in pets hp.

Seems from a big entrance and excitement we have now entered reality. Quite possibly RIP taming for the 2nd and last time for me.

My water elemental can hold up better than my Obsidian bear can. Plus the water elemental heals me and if the water elemental dies, I just recast her back.

Taming will be only used by me in the future for Plains Road Encounters (bandits and Skeletons) Tier 2 just so my bear can stretch her legs a bit.

    Makes me sad :(

Later after work I'm going to hop on test and test Death/Fire for specializations. I had all the fire and death skills gmed then dropped them for taming. :( Won't be too painful with the 9x potion though. I can take my main skills in fire and death to 120 or even 130 and be pretty strong and have some longer term goals.

Or maybe I can be the only tamer in the game, that would at least make me unique! ;) I can save up 200 mil and get an extra 180 hp for my pet! :)

On a side note, has anyone tried the Air specialization? I'm wondering how the stuns are now?

I have , that's my other or now main spec.
Discharge has a stun time of 10.1 seconds at level 102, 110 in rapid discharge and 88 in spec and 151 attunement
Lightning at 100 and above is 64-93 damage and 7.1 stun time 61% chance
Chain 71-99 damage, 7.1 stun time and 60.7 chance

I was mainly taking it for the dex and critical chance which is about 10% at 80 spec, and blink which i like...

Also on your death/fire spec choice, How much xp can you earn with taming compared to that.....negligible. You would make more in a night than you would in a month with taming as main.

Yes but its not the greatest imo for pve...The stuns are useful at times sure, damage isn't fabulous though, reagent cost is high....fizzle is 20+ on CL for me stationary etc. I am taking for support skills mainly and the odd 5 stacked CL. Although now most likely i will have 300 extra focus so wont have to worry about stacking stuff as much...poor Bear :(

I'm still hoping that the Chris has some artifacts or something to help taming. If not, the air tree sounds fun.

I saw a artifact with +8% summon elemental creature damage, we also need something like that for taming!
