Definitely liking Dracowyr's mockup, where the top banner is now the entire backdrop. Gotta showcase that amazing art by Stephen :)

Great website update guys, enjoying the new look -- and speed! Should probably run it through the PageSpeed and YSlow ringer though for even more speed

I completely agree. The stone background needs to be darker.

Okay, I spent a little more time refining the mockups, but here's my take once again, with the various images. You may not be able to see it well at this size (it's about 50% of the original), but I tried to include the current stone texture in the header and footer area:

With Dracowyr's permision and support we have begun implimenting his theme (the initial mockup) at http://devplus.konb.info. We're still tweaking it, but it's getting pretty close. Thanks Draco, for the help and for sharing your mockup! :)

Excellent work there, love the tweaks in the latest mock up with the header/footer in stone.

However there seems to be too much spacing above and below the SotA title. I'm not sure if I'd keep the menu bar as is, or even if the entire site design being so dark. Stephen's art is much brighter than that but with the darker site and fade to black lower portion, it darkens the art / visual punch as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad to read that most responses have been positive. Again, this is just some ideas I'm throwing out there.

@smack: Excellent point. Overall, with the way the original art is formatted, it is tough to find a balance between showing the key area of the composition, and formatting the layout better for the text/content of the site. I'm probably guilty of giving the art too much room. I'm going to play around with other ideas as well - including perhaps compositing some images - and other options to make it lighter overall.

Here's a mobile (tablet) version of the site:

It would be cool to rotate the concept art daily or weekly, or just manually (like when a new piece comes out) - and include a link to info about the piece, like when we first saw it or a link to the PotA where we can watch it be created.

ps it looks great on the dev+ wiki site

Just my 5¢: Dame Lori got it perfect. First off, the old one (and the forums) hurts my eyes with the light on dark background. Sometimes when I've done reading the forums, my eyes are all wigged out (call it middle age - I don't care). Secondly, the reason *I* think Dame Lori's looks better is that it's more color coordinated. I LOVE the parchment. But it's in a brown tint. The stone background isn't brown tint. It's gray. Dame Lori's makes it look incredible. Do that and you got something old looking, classy and fits the feel of the game.

Now can I have my 3¢ change back?

    Hi,

thanks for all the input and suggestions - I'm unfortunately very busy with all kinds of stuff and can only put out so much for the site. There will be refinements over time, but there are just too many things on our plate.

Either way, I just pushed out an update to the chat window again, to make the colors a bit better (especially for links) and to get away from the 'all yellow' look. It got a bit brighter, though. And... it's still not done.

    Too. Much. To. Do. ;)

Thanks for understanding, and thank you a ton for all the awesome ideas and input.

True. In all fairness, he is doing both front-end (HTML, CSS, Javascript) and back-end (PHP, MySQL, etc.) development, as well as maintaining the server, as Dame Lore mentioned.
