The vignette added to Night Vision really sucks.

Yeah I am also not happy about changes to Night Vision. Also no 100% unlearn chance to get your XP back.

I just want viable skills like Night Vision or the Light spell to be able to see and do stuff at night since the darkness is real oppressive.

I like the color pallets of the new night vision - not sure what you mean by vignette, is that the narrowing of the field of view ?

Ah.. I never knew that definition..always good to learn something new!

I was thinking in terms of theatre/literature:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vignette_(literature)
"a vignette is a short impressionistic scene that focuses on one moment or character and gives a trenchant impression about that character, an idea, setting, and/or object. It is a short, descriptive passage, more about evoking meaning through imagery than about plot."

Did you actually skill it up past 40? You do know that skill 40 takes almost no XP, right? It's like 4000xp for most skills.

Yeah I have it above 40 but not above 80.

If they are going to make a major change to a skill, people should get their XP back if they want to do so.

May not be able to see as much in the R47 version, but I like it in terms of how I think it should be as a spell.

I understand that some players don't like the new look. I get that it's a decrease in effectiveness.

But here's what I was hoping that was trying to improve upon.

    Item based light source
    Torch
    Light Spell
    Night Vision

Which of those is the most effective? Well I would say night vision. The only draw back is that night vision isn't all that much fun to look at 24/7.

The point I'm trying to make is that all of these light sources need balanced for effectiveness, and there shouldn't be a single one that is best in all situations. I hope you continue to attempt to improve on this.

Night Vision already has enough drawbacks (like that it's very difficult to see resource nodes, slimes, water, etc) and it really doesn't need more.

Update: we have toned it down SIGNIFICANTLY. We may still remove it completely. Please review and offer feedback for Damon. :)

I just compared live to QA build 579 and notice changes, Its much less painful to view. I play with my brightness slider all the way up, but if I drop it to the darkest setting it makes night vision so much better. could I recommend that the actual brightness of night vision be dropped down slightly (can't believe i'm saying this) - I'm loving this improvement! Thank you :)

I think if its night vision then any light source should flare up the vision and direct lights like that of cave lamps etc. should blind. but that's just my opinion.

Then it would suck and nobody would use it.

Considering its used for pvp mainly would that be the best way to counter it :)

perhaps have it used as labelled. Night vision implies seeing in the dark. Thus day time it should have negative affects.

I dont use it for pvp - I use it for the hours of grinding xp in the dark.
