    Thank you for this!!!!

I was hoping the nightmares would do a bit more damage. I think they will mainly be vanity pets with destroyers remaining the main fighters. But what vanity pets they are!

Are the baby unicorns meant to be tamable in the future? Only the adults are at the moment. I assume that is as expected and not a bug.

If the tames unicorn is like that normal one, it uses rainbow and removes buffs. The normal ones hit fast and hard too. I have my tamer ready for this, 160 tame creature and 125 spec, still 400+ mil in the pool if I need more. been waiting for this :)

Thanks Mac :). Rainbow is like mesmerize or the charm spell?

We have the spell from combo of douse and solar flair, but the unicorn one is different, it deals pretty heavy damage, while ours does no hp damage but does focus damage, confuse and can apply a fizzle 25% debuff.

given the steps taken to balance other pets, i suspect the rainbow attack will confuse, but ill be surprised if it does alot of damage because it's an AoE.

That and unicorns arent aggressive so they may be easy for high tamers to tame

You won't need more for these for sure. They summon at level 89 like the destroyers but the tame chance is more like the tier below. As always the tamed pets cause less damage than the wild ones (improved by skills of course). They may be better against specific targets, I've only tested a couple so far, but in general I think we will still be using destroyers.

I haven't had a chance to hop on QA yet, why do you say we will still be using destroyers?

Just didn't feel like as much damage as the the destroyers and don't hold aggro as well. But I may have been premature with that. The nightmares do nice AOE against multiple enemies so it will probably be situational. As blades and taming spec I don't usually fight groups though I'll probably stick with my piggy.

Maybe pets need some non-combat utility to better differentiate their use. If wolves csn stealth or detect stealthed enemies and unicorns/nightmares be ridable for example then the pet ecosystem can be made deeper and richer instead of being damage-centric.

The will-o-wisp is already a good example of non-combat utility, why not others?

What does the will-o-wisp provide outside of combat?

In patrol mode, the wisp will home in on resource nodes. Ore, reagent plants, wood - you name it - until you strip the area clean.

Unless something kills it. That function is basically useless, unless the area is cleared of all hostile creatures (like doing the overland encounters).

True. I used to depend on the wisp to spot all the reagent plants in the overland skeleton encounter scene (before the mobs got boosted). Pretty sure I'll have a much harder time clearing that scene of hostile mobs today.

I came across an old post that mentioned @Arkah EMPstrike using his chaotic clone to distract a mob while he backstabbed the NPC to bits. Am thinking of testing that same technique with the wisp since my avatar's stealth skills are good.

One on one, it should be doable. Multiple mobs woukd still be a pain though

They can be tamed with very low taming 160 not needed ;)

level 89 pet feels like a 69 or so to tame

Well getting it to 160 is too late, already done, im at 19% to tame a destroyer at full health. But that just means the 400+ mil pooled can be save for bard skills.

Will-o-wisps are also good for working on the Resurrection skill, since when they die you can rez them - unlike the other summoned creatures.
