Obsidian Potion of Guidance

This is the best potion in-game. Thanks for adding it.

 

If you have used this recently (after they fixed the bug where it takes like ALL of your XP in one use), can you describe how it works? Is it essentially the same as having a GM in your party? Does it continue to function even if over GM in a skill?

 

It uses exp in your pool at 900% or a 9x rate. Yes it works for skills above GM. It seems faster than having a GM in the party, that could just be my perception though. I fully agree with Barugon, this is a very welcome addition to the game!

It adds +900% to your current rate. In other words, it's 10x.

 

GM bonus is dead.

Why group for 10% buff when you can get +300%?

 

Does it work with crafting skills?

 

I think it does. I remember reading that when it wasn't working correctly, one crafting attempt drained your entire producer pool into the relevant skill(s). I believe that's fixed now, but can't say whether "fixed" means "no longer uses your entire pool" or "no longer applies to crafting."

Because grouping doesn't cost cotos.
Because of the social interaction.
Because most of us can not single boss level mobs.

Why do you group in other games where that kind of bonus simply doesn't exist at all?

To be fair, I think Elnoth's meaning was that mentoring was dead, not grouping, nor that GM mentoring was the only reason to group.

Yeah I meant the mentoring stuff like the Diamond fields crafting mentoring meetups. Why meetup for such a small bonus when 1 COTO gets you a +300% (or is it +900% like mentioned earlier in the thread) buff.

As a test on QA, I was making 1 full level per masterwork in the 80's with a 3M pool and the potion. When I reclained some XP and had a huge pool of 10M, it took just 5 masterworks to go from 50 to 60 skill.

 

I think the real benefit to grouping is getting together with higher level players, doing some stuff that is well above your level and benefiting from the large amount of experience gained. This potion is something that was really needed for working spells and crafting skills that are expensive to train.

I still think a 50% up to 100% bonus would have been enough.
