I've tried all of the following at both types stations (although I believe it should be milling).

    Rasp & maple board
    Rasp and pine board
Rasp and 1, 2, 3, 4, etc numbers of boards
All of the above with a chisel
rinse and repeat with a hammer
    tried it with chemicals
rasp with pine or maple timber
rasp with pine or maple raw wood
rinse and repeat with chisel and hammer.

Uncle!! I give up!!@ How do you make a pole now so you can make other stuff. This is really frustrating.

I'm not really sure myself but remembering how much extra wood it required in R13 I'm pretty sure in R14 it requires at least 1 live goat and a priest of some sort.

Not in game now but I think it's 6 timbers, rasp and 1 wax.

Edit: Bah, never mind, not worth it. must....resist....the....temptation.....to.....rant

That's ok, spent the entire day getting wood but processed it thinking the stupid poles take boards. No problem. I'll just spend another entire day doing it again so I can make a lousy chair tomorrow

I'm pretty sure it was 4 timbers in R13.. (just looked it up).. but a lot of recipes have changed.. so I'm still pretty sure there's a goat involved now.

OK, I'll rant for you... This is totally ridiculous, who's responsible for thinking up these weird ideas? Some college Grad computer Game programer I bet...

I think you're right, Bowen... I'm going to try some Fat, it used to come from Deer carcuses... Or wax sounds good too... Where can I find some Deer? I remember there being lots of them around, leveling has gotten real slow for me, I'm just level 15 now... And while I'm thinking of it, where can I find a public Butcher table? I also need fat for making hard leather or has that changed too...

This is getting complicated... 4 Timbers to make 1 pole, WoW...

Fat you can buy from vendors. I get it from the farmers market in a Owls or Ardoris. Don't remember which one but it's either the butcher or the baker.

    Deer can be found
    Owls Head behind the rift
Most player run towns along the edge (Holtrot, Valemark, Ravensend, etc).
In all forest scenes like deep whatsitsname forest.

    Public butcher
    A)
Use mine, it's the first house on the right in Owls Head, got all stations.
    B)
In owls run to the bridge past the dog through the sheep first building on your right 2nd floor.

OK, thanks Spoon... I've been using your table all along, only one I could readily find... I remember buying fat at one of the vendors, but couldn't remember which one... Must be the one in the main square inside the Castle walls...

I seem to be having problems with the wooden pole recipe - i cant ingest it into my recipe books.. I think its bugged?

UPDATE: I bought a pine pole recipe, ingested this and it enabled me to ingest the maple wood pole recipe.

And I thought it was ridiculous that you needed a board to make ONE pole....
    *sighs*

When I think timber, I am thinking at least a 4x4... 6 of them could make a STRUCTURAL SUPPORT COLUMN, not just a POLE....

No kidding. Jeez! Talk about things that suck so badly they suck the fun factor right out of the "feature" entirely. Currently, crafting is nothing more than an exercise in anger control for me. Honestly, and I'm frequently losing that battle and having to restrain myself from posting something *really* scathing. You guys think I'm bad now. lol. Believe it or not, I've been on my best behavior. :)

Right? Then there are the 100 wolf sized or better animal hides to make one piece of armor.... One of my favorite fantasy characters wears a single wolf pelt... granted, it is more decoration than armor, but still. The disparity is clear...

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand they are working on this.... but there had to be at least three levels of oversight on the recipes, as a guess: Worker bee who created them, supervisor who forwarded them, and some form of lead or producer who approved them.

At some point, someone had to look at the word TIMBER in a recipe for a POLE used in a CHAIR or as a WEAPON HANDLE, and say... what?

You think THAT's bad? Last night I found an iron hilt recipe (wasted 250 gold buying it actually).. 99 iron ingots and 80 coal! That has to be a mistake!

From what I gleam from the information sotarecipes.com exposes, most of the "99 ingot" recipes are meant to be disabled, and therefore invisible to us.

I would go with it being a bug that you could see the recipe at all. :)

    luxury!
You were lucky to have a recipe. We used to have blank recipe books, we did. For a whole release.

And you try and tell the young people of today that ..... they won't believe you.

*shakes head, knocks out the pipe for a refill*

heh.. I'd rather have no recipe at all than one I simply can't use. I still don't know how to make a bleedin' iron hilt! lol and I'm to the point where I need to replace my weapons. I suppose if all else fails I can swipe some but I'd really rather not.

    Does the following work ?
    • Ingot x2
    • Chunk of coal
    • Smithing Hammer
That appears to be the template as specified by the "enabled" recipes noted on the aforementioned website.

(Edit: Probably requires the ingot be one of the specialty variety)
