Tried it. Several times. :( Suppose I'll try the copper variety.

Copper worked.. iron no. Also seems they've done away with blade blanks... but there's nothing between short sword and two-handed now. lol 3 ingots.. short sword.. 4.. nothing.. 5 two handed.

I guess this crafting update for R14 has a few 'whoopes' in it. But now I've got a lovely short sword of crushing. I can fight on for another day!..

And just think, in addition to all this, they will soon be implementing skill checks and failures. lol.

"Crafting: The crafting system is in the game as a framework, but is still missing some key components like events. Skill checks are also not in yet, so results are always 100% successful. Long term, the percentage chance to make items will depend on a myriad of variables and can result in a variety of results including: making the item desired, making a simpler version of the item that will need to be enhanced, or making a damaged version of the item that needs repair."

It's just bugs.. don't sweat it. :) Sadly it's unrealistic to expect perfection which each expansion. It's just this time around we got a few glaringly obvious and painful bugs. I'm sure it's just growing pains. I just hope they're patched up this week and we don't have to wait for R15 for some of this stuff to be resolved.

Certainly sounds like some bugs... I was getting worried how few recipes are the same or subtly different to last time.

I also wonder if to some extent, the devs are deliberately changing the recipes, to force players into 'exploring' the crafting process with each new release, rather than relying on prior knowledge which will probably be useless when the game is released (kind of makes sense in my head to do that - more sense than 6 timber making 1 pole anyway) :p

I bought one too, but I think it's ment as a "discouragement" so you try the other alloys/metals... I made a "constantine" hilt and put it on my 2hd sword blade and got a 2hd sword of Crushing +0.1 to blade skill, does 8-24 Damage... Then I added a weapons grade Ruby to it and it added 10% Fire damage, has the flaming sword effect too... Woohoo...

I'm finding I prefer bronze weapons.. hilt and blade.. Greater haste, +20% attack speed. Basically it reduces your cool down.

I had the idea that maybe the devs are trying to slow down the process of crafting by requiring more materials. People are telling that they gather insane amounts of stuff in a day. 100 hides from wolves of west ravenswood is easy if you are strong enough, done that myself, they respawn damn quickly. Going forward, the devs have to figure out what to do about that, finding certain resources should be maybe a bit more difficult. At the moment I'm sad for the two entire trees that were needed for making the handle of my hammer, and the 100 magnificent beasts that gave their life for the sake of crafting my armor. :'(

So are we going to be able to enhance bought weapons?
I mean I buy a crafted sword off a vendor can I enhance it?
Tried a battle spear and the polearm from the rewards and neither would take an enhancement.

Yes the Grind>Craft>Money ratio is a bit off, almost too grindy. :p

So, if I buy a weapon someone crafted but from their vendor will it still be a "crafted" weapon

Yes. There are elves that drop "Crafted" weapons and they light up.

It is kind of dumb that you are _forced_ to buy a recipe instead of supporting self discovery, but I digress.

In R15 Norman is located @ (84.4, 71.6, 71.8) in the Owl's Head Peddler Row (in the building behind Myra the Farmer) and sells Recipe: Maple Wooden Pole and Recipe: Pine Wooden Pole for 250 gold/ea.

You are not forced, you can just figure it out and it adds it to the book.
