    Seems like there should be a puzzle to get past the teleporting barrier? I couldn't find anything useful to interact with and, although I found what seems like a clue, I have no idea what it means. Am I just too dumb, or is there something not implemented yet?

    The clue you're speaking of has names that refer to NPCs in the game, from which you should have a hint of what needs to be done. I still haven't quite figured out how to do it yet, though, if it can be done as of yet.
