    But where is the road?

The mouse pan seems to go quite a ways, single click didn't do anything at first, and dbl click entered the new hex. When I exited, I was back at Owl's Head, then single click was working.

I think the map looks awesome though, great job...

This is still a very work-in-progress early release that is missing visible roads, visible hex grid, animating avatars, encounters, etc. All of these will follow in future releases.

I agree. I like the new look of the overland map. It's a little slow to move around on though. I also wish you can zoom out more so you can see the entire island.

I would not be so quick to jump up and say it looks great... a bit better though...

Don't know if it looks better at this point, imo. It does have the potential to look better.

It looks nice, but it is very laggy and memory intensive. The game is making my video card run very warm at the moment unless I turn the graphics all the way down.

Yeah that is how I feel as well. I think in time though it will look much nicer though. Once they get the roads in and the animated avatar and encounters. Not to mention fix the shadows. Maybe it was just me but shadows were flickering like mad all over the map. I think without that it would have looked much nicer.

I feel like it is a real world now. It's not as super pretty as the paper map version, YET... but it really brings a tangible feel to the world. I think it was the right decision to go this route!

*edit tangible..yes not tangle able...auto correct is lovely. Thanks NRaas.

I will agree with licemeat who I believe meant to say "tangible".

Either/or was fine with me, but if the final decision is to go this route, the devs appear to have made some good progress so far. :)

Is there any real reason as to why the map seems so processor intensive? I can't figure out why because with next to nothing implemented it seems quite overly intensive.

How can something that looks so bad stress a modern GPU? Unbelievable...

I'm seeing all sorts of graphical issues in this build, not the least of which is a video driver crash in the 3D overland map.

I never had problems with the old map really, was easier for me to navigate too :p Give them a chance to fix em tamino. That's why we're here.

agreed... it was also like that back in Release 6... for some reason, the Paper Cloth overland map was heating up my GPU... it was weird because the scenes are more stable... o_O

I really like the new overland map...2 thumbs up. Sure it's a work in progress, but this is a great start!
So far, I've experienced no lag, crashes or high processor usage at all on my Alienware X51

This is 100 times better than the old one already. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done.

I like where the map is going as well, I'm confident over the next few releases things will get ironed out and this will provide for a better scene transition.
