I believe the issue is the set bonus... honestly, by the time someone has the $ and gear to drop a wedding dress to paint a target on their back and try to attract people to kill them for their gear... they don't care about having pants on.

This tux PvP is about saying you're so kick butt you don't need your pants. This lets them say it in style. ^.^

these aren't recipes. they will not be added to your recipe book. they are one-use items.

No. As stated in the OP: "There will be a series of recipes similar to enchantments (with wildcards) with no skill requirement, such that anyone can use these patterns at a crafting station to remake their gear."

@DarkStarr, items like "Benefactor's Vanduul Polearm" (pledge rewards) can be also used to obtain an eternal pattern?

    Thanks.

I think it would be best if salvaging patterns was not done on a normal crafting station(to avoid misstakes)
Make a specific one near the oracle perhaps.

Or just make a new Pattern crafting station.

I'd like to have it kept on the current station and allow us to find patterns to other items occasionally as well. I see that feedback to change it repeatedly so I wanted to represent some of us would rather NOT have another crafting station, another system... things should remain natural and make intuitive sense.

If you want another frustrating system to be put in a pop up message that has a "never show me again" option would suffice.

I think the concern is less for it not making sense (although, I don't see that this system makes a whole lot of sense compared to other crafting, but thats not the point). The concern is that it is tied to salvaging items, a highly destructive event that at this point gives you very little results. Plus, there is nothing currently in place to say whether you have any chance to get a pattern. This will simply lead to a lot of destroyed items with little benefit, unless we get a list of what patterns are available, which we havn't gotten any indication of in prior systems.

So personally, no I don't want another crafting station. I want something on the salvage that shows what it is possible to get from salvaging an item, based on your skill and the item on the crafting station. Pop up a box that shows how many scraps, which hilt, and which pattern are possible, and then we won't worry about this system working as designed.

@DarkStarr this is a monumental change in the game that is amazing and another attribute to how innovative this dev team is.

My only concern is that we are taking into account how this impacts other systems in the game. For example the PvP randsom system. The randsom equasion needs to take the pattern system into account. If the gear is high end and visually appealing the gold cost to retain the item needs to increase. @Chris

If items with special effects like the LB cloak are salvaged for a pattern .. will the special effect be lost, or carried over to the pattern?

At this point it is unlikely we will make cloaks part of the pattern system but if we did they would work like all other items and all effects would be lost. Remember a pattern is only a visual, it has no other properties.

Oh please please please make the The Emperors' and Empresses' New Clothes Bundle part of the pattern system. Maybe Empress Morganna's New Riding Cloak could be an exception? It's not like anyone can see it. :D

I could see a lot of PvP trolling with naked super armor... I support this. I personally am not a fan of a bunch of naked avatars; however, I do think it would draw in a crowd that I'm a fan of killing ... so... more targets please? XD
