Below is the overall PaxLair Scene Template without any lot selections or subdivisions. So all these spaces would be flattened by the Devs for the PoT Owner to request subdividing/combining for their purchased scene. There are about 25% more housing space there than a Metropolis can use, so owners can make their subdivisions pretty unique, even request a change in biome which really makes things more unique.

Sorry, yes, this is the map I was referring to. 4 city water spaces. (sorry for miscounting the Castle and Keep)
I just thought it would be helpful to get some numbers down for future template designs.

    4 City water
    7 Town water
    17 village water
    3 Castle
    1 Keep
39 City ---though it seems the 2 City spaces on the west side might as well be a second Keep space. ;-)

*These (if i'm counting correctly) are just the reserved spaces in the template, and any/all of them could be divided up into smaller lots when using the template.*

In this case, just for practical purposes, the town-sized water spaces on the sea dock might as well be City-sized water spaces. Maybe that wouldn't be necessary to reflect, but if it could easily be an option, shouldn't it be in the template? Just curious.

OH, I missed the two City Lots adjacent on the west side can make a Duke Keep. Thanks for catching that!

As for the water lots, I got the impression from the Devs that those are "hand placed" in and at the size shown (village, town, city) and cannot be subdivided/changed due to the water lot mechanics.

If the whole PoT design process goes smoothly though, I am guessing that the "one-off" changes like water lot selections might be made when using an overall re-usable template. I understand a Duke Keep Island is not too hard to add either to a scene template.

I'm not looking to change this amazing template.
    But it got me thinking:

Has anyone thought about underground lakes or rivers in a cavern template? (images of the River Styx, and fantastic scenes from Zork are dancing in my head right now)
Owning a boat underground when the boating stretch goal is reached might not be the best, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be awesome! :)

    And to continue my counting:

    3 Castle
    1 Keep
    63 City!

hmm... I'd love to see an example of this scene populated..

Yes its overkill on potential lot areas due to the people wanting that template all wanting very different placements. The river is a great idea, i would never have thought of even putting water in if not for one of the people who requested changes.

Maybe I’m pedantic…but shouldn’t the NPC-buildings/ruins also be placed inside a "red rectangle"?
Their position ought to be adjustable/optional, no? ;)

Those are non functional decorative ruins, not NPC buildings.

I think he's talking about the 'N#' buildings in the downtown area of the PaxLair map?

Golden Cove template adjusted to fit more peoples designs by adding beach area, waterfall and climbing rocks. Map also now to scale.

    @Themo Lock and Miracle Dragon
Well I meant more or less both. ;)
Above all, I thought of the N1-N15 buildings but wouldn’t it be reasonable if decorations like your “Ruins of the Twin Towers” (maybe as large as a castle lot) would be placed as a "deco house" on a lot?
Changing positions and reusing them in a different scene could be easier this way. And if you do not want to use this “deco house” in your own PoT scene there would be additional lots you could choose from. :D

Those are not something we have an option for, they have to be a part of the template itself. We may end up with things like that in an addon store at a later date though.

The only guidance we received about NPC buildings and monuments/statues is they need to be in the central area. Some PoTs will have more or less NPC buildings depending on the size of the PoT. I don't know how hard it is to place an NPC building versus lay down a subdivided player lot. Yet, if a town does not have 15 NPC buildings in the central square, it would look a bit blank unless people are allowed to add in some player housing too. Thus, it gives rise to adding a City Lot Template in that area of NPC buildings too. We shall have to see how they put in the NPC buildings to know how flexible that is.

For the Ruins of the Twin Towers, we asked those to be specific to PaxLair since our UO PaxLair has twin towers (order/chaos, mage/necromancer, evil/good). So that would be a blank area, or forested area on the re-usable template. I don't know if or how the Devs want to accomodate specialized "deco" / eye-candy per PoT. We shall have to see.

    Good question!

Are 45/90 degrees lots mandatory? Or just more efficient?

Honestly, I love the non-aligned layout of PaxLair.

Winfield... can a lot span the division between adjacent city lot parcels?

Lots Must be in the city sized flattened area.
They can not be angled within the lot.
There MUST be a space off the actual lot for the claiming stone/sign, and the stone/sign can NOT be on any lot.
No roads may run thru the template flattened area. They must go around.

All I can think of at the moment

Since you are already living in PaxLair come E1, you know you'll be able to choose in any of our boroughs , just wanted to let ya know. ;)

Thank you, Se'an. All useful information, and appreciated, but not an answer to the question I asked.

For example, there are 4 adjacent 'city sized flattened areas' that very much look like they're intended to receive a Castle Lot... Could, for example, a village lot be plopped down on the intersection such that it took area from all four of the 'city sized flattened areas?'

No, not that I know of. I thought of it for my own town which I posted somewhere above.

    But I will double check
