Anyone know if having a pinwheel shape for 4 row houses would be viable?

I know it's a huge waste of space, but I could fit two of these onto a City Lot.

Um what restraints, There have been NONE given, I am tired of hearing people's interpetations.

Your Pin Wheel Fits EASILY as two row house back to back is only 30 m long which fits EASILY into a 40 x 60 space

    WHAT CONTSTRAINTS DID THAT VIOLATE?

And yes you CAN get 8 in a City Space Grid Coming

Sorry to be so blunt but again tired of hearing HEAR SAY, from third party people.

And if you look hard you can even put two more rows on the corners

Weins please stop derailing the thread, we already explained what is going on in here. If you look back through standup corner you will see Winfields name listed along with what he has been tasked with. You have also already run around in the scene. There will be no official guide to the process until testing and refining has been finished. You can either take the shared info on offer and use it or choose to ignore it but please stop telling people that have been a part of the process that they are wrong.

where does it say that this cannot be done? these do not overlap and the dors fit so what restriction are being refered too?

I have clearly show why they fit, so how am I derailing anything.

look at the grid it is simple.

I did not say anything about the town, I think it looks great, very big but.

my point is everyone is spitting out information that cannot be backed up and should not be said, it should be coming from the developers, if the 10 house cannot fit in a city block then there is something else preventing it, NOT doors, and hearsay should NOT be listened to, unless you want to.

I know full well once testing with R17 and the first POT is complete MUCH more will come out but as a player we should STOP tying to interpret things we don't KONW.

so again why wont his idea work?

Since the choice is really going to be up to whoever makes your town from a template, wouldn't it be a lot less stressful to just wait, and when your design session comes up, suggest you want row houses in pinwheel shapes, and see if it's possible?

    ???
    This is what I said:
Could you please be so kind to point out where I said "no"?

Weins, what is it with this that makes you so stressed out that you keep lashing out all the time?

I mean, people are asking questions, why shouldn't we answer them with the best and latest knowledge that we have?

Instead you want us to encourage people to have false hopes, why?

Unless one has a metro I'd really really advice against this sort of approach to these design decisions.

This since Port have consistently wanted to be "fair" to all POT owners, so that if one gets an option/choice, all should get that option choice.

So if Port so far have said that it is "snap to grid" placement that is it for Rows lest they take too much time, then unless we get in suggestions for other ways to do it early on, as in now, then it might not make it into the submission process and thus not be available at all.

I just know that I would like more Unity assets so that I can start building towns on my table :)

The small draft prints will fit on a nickel, but the large one will require several :)

Would be neat to keep printing and be able to build someone's town for photograph/reference or what ever reason!

I have a 3d printer I am wanting to get fired up too. We need the .stl files, not even the unity assets. Maybe we can petition them to open up the .stl for dev+.

Not to take away from this thread at all. This is a great thread. I did however start a specific Underground POT design thread here https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...rground-player-owned-towns.25772/#post-362446 The reason for this is that the underground designs have not been introduced yet and may be dramatically different in design. I understand that they will have to follow the same lot placement requirements but we really have no idea on what the biome will look like. Please post your ideas there as to consolidate on specifically Underground themes. Thanks.

Hopefully this will be Christophs Perch. NOT TO SCALE. Not sure if I can fit more, or if I fit to much. Very much based on SB, hopefully not to much work for the devs to adapt it.

Here's one way I envisioned splitting up a larger chuck of land into multiple groupings of smaller lot sizes. It accommodates 2 town lots (ok a keep lot) and can be split up into smaller units that add up to that same square meterage. It has padding room for streets or whatever. I don't quite think it fits with the snap-to-grid as currently meant for a city lot. I don't see why that couldn't be updated to something closer to this to allow more flexibility in arrangement of smaller lots.

Here, 1 LEGO stud = 5m x 5m and the templated area is 16x20 studs or 80m x 100m. It's not the same 2:3 ratio as the lots, but this allows for roads or walkways around the lots.

'Front entrances' are marked on the non-row lots, which should be adjacent to a road or pathway, and not blocked by another building or lot. (I leave it as an exercise to the reader to identify 'front entrances' on the row lots.)

(Apparently I even have basic fences shown on the non-row lots.)

Snowy Mountain - Crater Lake with island/Upper Ledges Template

So in working on a design of a possible Snowy Mountain biome, I finally narrowed it down to something like the following:

    City Lot Placements in Red
NPC Building Placements Areas in Green
    Monument Areas in Lighter Blue
Map was based on a 1km x 1 km scale

    3D snapshots:

    From bottom of map

    From top of template map

    From left side of map

The other idea to work with this map was to dig out part of the lake to extend off the map and it fades into the start of a glacial ice structure that extends as the barrier to the left or right sides of the template.

Also, scooping out the island lends itself towards a caldera environment.

    Cheers!

(apologies.. thought they would transfer from the original source, but not so much :)

    Is that working now, Drocis?
