POLL: How powerful should the Summoned Daemon be?

    I've been chatting with some people on and off discord about this subject, as I'm curious to see what others on the forums think about it and how powerful it should be. NOTE: The poll answers are assuming that you have leveled the skill to 100.

    Currently, the summon daemon is one of the weakest summons in the game, as it's health around the same as a GM'd Fire Elemental at level 100, and it's damage floating somewhere between 5-16 damage, with criticals bringing it up over the 20's.

    A few interesting things on the summoned daemon real quick:
    - It costs 7,256,782 xp to level the daemon from 1-100.
    - The Daemon is one of two summons in the game with a more than 1 attack (Daemon Chaos, random nonscaling status effect, which DOES NOT scale with its level for some reason).
    - The Daemon is supposed to be hostile to everything (in its glyph description and it also describes the daemon as "powerful"), including its own summoner, when summoned, but that has yet to be implemented.
    - There used to be a transparent glyph slot for Control Daemon, but that has been removed. Whether or not this will return is unknown.

    Daemon is just another Summons, as long as they are comparable they are GtG.

    Since you say they already are about = that is not an issue.

    However - summons as a whole need to be fixed, they need to scale better with Skill Level and Atteunment, they need to use spells and do damage related to their School and those should als be scalled to user.

    This is such an old topic, well.

    They have never done what they were supposed to do.

    Pets and Summons are the red headed step children of the game.

    Summons did have abilities before, which made them a must have. As in, you MUST have them. Like, you were stupidly gimping yourself a ton if you decided not to have one.

    Since a summon is essentially a DoT that you dont really have to worry about keeping alive because you can just resummon it, it would be silly to make it as strong as high end tamed pets, which at the moment cap out over that 100 dmg mark

    It depends on when and how they implement the control spell. If they are going to make it supper powerful and difficult to control then it would be funny watching it kill a few people before they get it under control. But if they make it too powerful they would need some sort of counter for a daemon. Counters should be everything. So if there is a control daemon and it is supper powerful then someone should either be able to break that control and release it to attack anyone, or unsommun it, or even a steal control and turn it against them.

    They could do it right or they could just dump it in and see what happens.

    They won't make it so that it will kill other players (unless they're PvP) because that would just be used as a tool for griefing.

    I just hope chaotic clone will be better.

    Anyway all the summons need to be comparable.

    Oh and the whole chaotic tree should be more chaotic and have serious chance of backfiring.

    I don't have gm in demon summon, but fail to see where it should be any more effective than gm summon in any other tree. It's use (and for that matter) all summons should be used tactically depending on the foe. However since chaos is by definition unpredictable, demon use in any situation should be a crap shoot. Therefor I voted for slightly more power than other tree summons to make up for the uncertainty.

    The main issue I have with being comparable is that the daemon, is by far, the most expensive summon to level to GM, only tied with the Lich for xp cost. Every other summon in the game right now only costs 1 million-4 million xp to level to GM. Why should something like that require more investment compared to other summons and supposedly come with a high risk of attacking everything be only as strong as the stock water elemental?

    So just because it's cool looking, you're going to blow over 7 million xp to GM it, when it's much easier and far more cost effective to just do the same with the Elemental pets?

    Just because the daemon is "cool" looking doesn't mean that it should be only as effective as the much cheaper summons.

    Maybe they changed it... but summon daemon in its original form should require 2 GM’s too pull off. 1 to summon a wild daemon and the second to actually control it. If they implement that eventually I can see where it should be more powerful than a regular summons. But not sure if plans changed.

    I hear ya, but wondering why people are spending so much experience to learn the skill now when the daemon is somewhat weak? I don't like the chaos stuff else I would raise the skill myself.
