Portable Radios

The Concept

Craft-able portable music devices (similar to the jukebox in Soltown) that can play a selectable list of internet streams which can be edited by the owner.

Details

Owners of these devices can equip them in a special slot and enable them any time even during combat to listen while fighting. Others nearby can right click on a person playing a stream and mute it. Additionally, those who own a portable device can choose not to broadcast the sounds but instead listen in private. An option in the audio settings can disable streams from portable radios all together.

How does it work?

Since these devices are electronic they require a power source. I suppose batteries are needed (not sure what materials would be used) and a way to charge them (maybe solar power?).

Feedback

I am not sure if these would fit into the world setting or if it's even a good idea but it sure is neat. I am very interested in feedback either positive or negative. What does everyone think? Maybe this will work if the idea is refined some more.

I would love to see a non-combat four legged clockwork "radio" pet. It would be great for parties located in places other than player lots, and would just be SO much fun.

(Extra bonus if it looked like a pig or was a pig with a radio strapped to its little back )

 

I would go for a chest-mimic-liked boombox!

 

I actually like this idea more, I can picture a small rusty looking mechanical pet with a dome shaped head and hinged spider legs with a lens for an eye that glows.
