    We have an exciting announcement for you today! Portalarium is partnering with Travian Games to help bring Shroud of the Avatar to players across Europe, South America, Central America, the Middle East, and North Africa.

    “We were looking to for the best upcoming MMORPGs in our industry as well as a strong cultural fit, so we are truly excited about the opportunity to work with Richard and the Shroud of the Avatar team on bringing another great game to our community,” notes Lars Janssen, CEO of Travian Games. “Portalarium’s vision is very similar to ours and we believe this is the start of a long-term relationship between our two teams.”

    “Europe has always been a strong market for the Ultima games so we wanted to be sure we found the very best partner who could who truly understands what we wanted to accomplish with Shroud,” explains Richard Garriott.

    But what precisely does it mean for existing European backers and players? I'm not at all sure what Travian will be our contact for, if anything, or what our interactions with Portalarium would be.

    Travian's support will lead our marketing and promotion efforts in European territories. This means a big push in getting the word out about the game, and that means more European players!

    My assumption would be, similar to what Black Sun Games is doing for Russia and China; Travian will be handling marketing/publishing in the territories it services, and possibly be handling localization.

    So have we officially reached 'Story Launch' that we have been waiting for? The wording in the article seems to suggest it.

    So much for having full control and not having any publishers. This makes two now...

    We relayed a big part of "control" very early on to a very special caste of players who stand to profit... so might as well make the best of it now. Besides Travian won't be owning shares of the company, so it isn't like EA and Origin, at all.

    Release 44, now permits backers to complete the entire Episode 1 story, from beginning to end.

    Shroud of the Avatar, the spiritual successor to Garriott’s Ultima series of fantasy role-playing games, is a “selectively multiplayer” game, and includes a deep story crafted by Garriott and New York Times bestselling author, Tracy Hickman ( Dragonlance series). The game combines a detailed sandbox style Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) with a single player narrative mode. With Release 44, players can now complete the paths of Truth, Love and Courage and ultimately discover the secrets of the Shroud of the Avatar.

    “The story craft is not at an end,” said Garriott. “More side quests and revisions to improve quality, will continue to be added to the game month after month, yet this is the first time the full plot has been playable, and is among the last major milestones needed for a commercial launch later in the year.”

    @Lum the Mad
    Would it be safe to say, that it is now a good time to play through the entire story Plot, and make a fair judgement on the story in SOTA? I've been putting off quests since my first attempt in all shapes and sizes, so i could play through once the story was considered, essentially done.
    I understand more side quests.. and polishs etc etc would be coming. But i suppose my question is, is the main story now considered playable? Or at least the CORE story is essentially there now? Or do i want to be waiting till the end of the year to be able to fairly rate it?

    STORY COMPLETE, not launch... :) And Story Complete still means we need to polish it.
