SOTA's astrology / astronomy is fascinating and is increasingly linked into the game. The astronomy (science) into stuff like the comet, gathering and no doubt increasingly into other aspects. The astrology (lore, magic), if I can call it that, lends itself to some really fun magic lore, especially for the Obsidian's.

Many players perhaps do not yet appreciate the relationship of the astral bodies to the Game now and as it will develop in the future. What may be fun and add some value and depth is the ability to mouse over the astral bodies and receive their names, any current data and to what they currently relate in game.

I appreciate they are a bit far away for a standard mouse over, but maybe it could be an option that could be turned on and off if people get irritated every time they point at the sky they get a pop up.

You kinda sorta but not really get something in that direction with the astrolabes/moondials.

For instance using a moondial it is kinda sorta easy to see which cabalists are sieging.

So if you want tooltips on something then in my mind it would benefit if it tied into the astrolabe/moondial so that the flavor matches the tech.

Well, technically all cabalists are sieging somewhere at all times. The moondials just tell you where. Each planet represents a cabalist.. and each constellation on the moondial is linked to a town... (which ever NPC town or POT that has the devotional matching the constellation). When a planet passes a constellation on the moondial.. that's where the cabalist is laying siege.

The method that @Bowen Bloodgood describes above is depicted in this tutorial video on cabalist tracking using the moondial. If you wanna track cabalists using a moondial (or astrolabe), it will be useful to reference the Heavens & Virtues diagram and a list of cities that are associated with each virtue & constellation.

If you don't want to go through the process of reading the moondial to find a cabalist, you can use the Moongate Traverlers Siege Mapper, which tells you where each cabalist is at a given time.
