    I was able to get my donation up to Citizen level which is where it has to stay. I was VERY excited about gardening, even though I knew I would have limited space. Is there a way to allow pots and small dirt plots on the DECK of cabana houses? That was my plan all along. Then I saw that folks were growing goddess knows what in their basements and you guys changed it so no planting on the actual house plot except on the grass. But I sure would like to be able to plant things all along the parameter of my deck.

    Yes, the most recent changes appear to require you to place planters directly on the terrain itself.

    I believe this was the devs quick fix to stop players from placing them in basements, or inside.

    Hopefully they intend to iterate on that "fix" in a future release and correct some of the obvious shortcomings. :)

    I cant seem to get my planting pot to work. I have three planting pots. I have a hoe, garlic seed and the immortality fruit seed, and like 15 buckets of water. the "Plant" button never highlights, even with all 3 of these things active. what am i doing wrong?

    Not sure what you are doing, but you do need to have the pot outside of your house (not on a deck or roof).
    You click on the soil, then add the seed, hoe and water (much like a crafting station) and only one of each.
    and then you can plant.

    thats exactly the situation. the "Plant" button at the bottom never highlights, with hoe, garlic/immortality seed, and water selected. clicking it does nothing.

    Hmm if you did all that stuff, I would suggest bugging it. I haven't had an issue when I did those steps.

    You can't place them on rooftops anymore?

    No you can't place them on roof tops. Only outside on the grounds.

    ok this might be a bug, but it just worked (i think?)

    i had to shift-drag the items to the window so only 1 bucket of water and 1 garlic seed were in the list. i then clicked Plant and im sure nothing happened, but then i accidentally bumped my mouse on Plant and it worked. Again, the text never highlighted, like it does with other crafting.

    maybe the "double click" effect was just lag. but in any event, looks like if you have a stack of seeds, or a stack of buckets, it doesnt work.

    {update}

    yes that is precisely the problem. got my immortalty fruit planted now. this time the "Plant" button highlighted, so i guess its also lag at play. Cuz i mean, it wouldnt be UO without lag!
