Hi folks, I'm going to do another appeal on your wisdom! Sometimes, usually during a hectic fight, the view of my character changes. She is then shown at 3/4 backside and when she moves forward it seems she moves diagonally. I probably hit the wrong key during the fight, but which key? And, more important, how do I get my normal setting back? Now the only way I know to fix it, is to restart the game. Toggling the "First person view" is not the solution, alas. Thanks in advance, Ysold.
The "V" key switches between camera views: standard third person, third person follow, and first person. Maybe you hit that? http://shroudoftheavatar.com/playerinstructions
I do that all the time. Or, I'll hit the R key, and then the game is waiting for me to press another key for a combo. Also or, before I started using the charged attack, I would accidentally hit the T key and not know why my auto attack stopped working.
I think it's just the weirdness of the over-the-shoulder view vs. the normal directly-behind view, it looks off a bit just because it's no what you're used to.
I don't think that'd help me much, it's usually more related to the nerve damage in my hands. I mis-hit keys all the time no matter what.
I feel ya, I move my char by keyboard mostly and all kind of windows pop up in the middle of a fight. I actually forgot about the combo-key "R", I really need to remap that, as well as he friendlist "F", which is just too close to WASD.
Arrow-keys (partly remapped): forward, backward, turn left, turn right. During a fight I often jump backwards (space+arrow down) to surprise the critters that are hacking at my back. I think I tried that to get things back to normal, but I'll try it again when I'm back in game.
I've experienced the same thing -- it's not the same as just accidentally toggling the first-person view (although that can also be problematic). There was a point about a year ago where if you got interrupted while gathering, your avatar would get stuck in an odd animation state. I don't remember the details, but I suspect the diagonal movement is the same sort of thing: something has happened to get the animation controls confused about which direction we're supposed to be facing. It fixes itself after a rezone (I think? It's been a while since I experienced it) but that doesn't help when you're trying to complete a scene.
