    Hi,

    Since we are all going to produce lots and lots of yeast culture for brewing, i'd like to check the best way to do this.
    As far as I can tell right now from "dry research" (ingame and sotalore/farming) it's like this

    buying yeast culture from vendor = 20 gold

    buying sacks of grain + making flour + empty jar = 3 x 8 gold + 3 gold = 27 gold + some work

    same + farming the wheat and making the sacks of grain first = 4 x 2 gold per sack of wheat grain at the very minimum (no farming misktakes)
    = so ends up at same 27 gold + fuckload of work + risk + high initial investment

    So basically yeast culture from npc vendor is massively better than the production chain in every way?
    That wasn't particularly important before R55, but now it's like half of the whole brewing production chain is completely pointless?
    Are my numbers wrong?

    It would be better they raise the price for Jar of Yeast Culture on the vendor to 40-50 gold. Also remove the Sack of Wheat Grain and Sack of Flour completely. Like also to see that the Sack of Salt is removed from NPC vendor, and some more salt nodes throughout Novia instead. And finally remove Sack of Sugar, that can be made from corn* instead (needs a new recipe).
    The first Yar of Yeast Culture is an investment, you need to buy it only one single time. So it can have a higher price.
    That also may help that cooks are able to sell some of the things they can make.

    There is a way to produce Jar of Yeast culture cheaper as the buying price on the NPC, but not cheap enough to earn something on sale. Currently you can not defend the NPC vendor.

    Wheat when grown and all water is gotten from a well is roughly 1 gold per fruit.
    A Sack of Wheat Grain needs 4 wheat and one tool usage cost: 4.8 gold
    A Sack of Flour needs 1 Sack of Wheat Grain and one tool usage cost: 5.6 gold
    You can "grow" your yeast culture:
    First iteration: 1 Jar of Yeast Culture, 1 Empty Glass Jar, 3 Sack of Flour and one tool usage cost: 20 gold + 2 gold + (3 * 5.6 gold) +0.8 = 39.6 gold = 2 Jars = 19.8 gold each Jar of Yeast Culture
    Second iteration: 1 Jar of Yeast Culture, 1 Empty Glass Jar, 3 Sack of Flour and one tool usage cost: 19.8 gold + 2 gold + (3 * 5.6 gold) +0.8 = 39.4 gold = 2 Jars = 19.7 gold each Jar of Yeast Culture
    Third iteration: 1 Jar of Yeast Culture, 1 Empty Glass Jar, 3 Sack of Flour and one tool usage cost: 19.7 gold + 2 gold + (3 * 5.6 gold) +0.8 = 39.3 gold = 2 Jars = 19.65 gold each Jar of Yeast Culture
    Fourth iteration: 1 Jar of Yeast Culture, 1 Empty Glass Jar, 3 Sack of Flour and one tool usage cost: 19.65 gold + 2 gold + (3 * 5.6 gold) +0.8 = 39.25 gold = 2 Jars = 19.625 gold each Jar of Yeast Culture
    ....
    The first iteration saves you the wast amount of 0.2 gold each and may become the huge saving of 0.5 gold after x iterations....

    Even when the initial costs to make Jar of Yeast Culture where raised, at least one Sack of Flour should removed from the recipe.
    (
    40+2+(2×5.6)+0,8 = 54 = 2 Jars = 27 gold each
    -> 27+2+(2×5.6)+0,8 = 41 = 2 Jars = 20.5 gold each
    -> 20.5+2+(2×5.6)+0,8 = 34.5 = 2 jars = 17.25 gold each
    -> 17.25+2+(2×5.6)+0,8 = 31.25 = 2 jars = 15.625 gold each
    -> 15.625+2+(2×5.6)+0,8 = 29.625 = 2 jars = 14.8125 gold each
    -> ...
    )
    That should stabilize somewhere at 14.5 gold each Jar of Yeast Culture. That is cheaper then the 40 gold on a NPC Vendor. And may cooks can sell crafted Jar of Yeast Culture at 20 gold each.

    This was/is also important before brewing comes in. Ardoris Coleslaw uses Jar of Yeast Culture.
    Personally i bought one single Jar of Yeast Culture a long time ago, and have "grown" it with Sack of Flour / Sack of Wheat Grain found throughout Novia. Since growing your own wheat was not worth it.

    * High-Fructose-Corn-Syrup (HFCS) is not healthy, but there is nothing else in game you can make sugar from. Like sugar beet, sugar cane or honey.
    May maple syrup is another source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_syrup

    Now I'm wondering how plants in Novia get pollinated, since we apparently have no bees, of Unusual Size or otherwise.

    It is along those lines why I made suggestions of giving ways add fertilizers. If fertilizers get added then yield on agriculture should increase in theory.

    Who knows, with all of the toilets available, poopsmithing may become prominent.
