    I just wanted to post a thread to honor the passing of one of my favorite personalities in my lifetime, Robin Williams. I saw the online news that he was dead but hoped it was a hoax. Alas, it was not. There is heavy speculation that it was a suicide but I hope that is not the case. Either way, he is gone and he will be missed. The world just lost an incredible talent and a very special person today.

    i'm so very sorry to hear this!
    he seemed to be one of the good guys - probably why he was depressed...

    all his many works start scrolling through my mind - i think my favorite movie of his was "What Dreams May Come"

    Yes I just heard the news also - shocking. A tragedy that some of the most gifted people are also most tormented. He has given so much entertainment and happiness to so many, and will be truly missed.

    As you were, I was hoping the news was not true and then to find out it is possibly self inflicted makes it worse. He was a genius and very talented who made some great movies and had the fastest whit I have ever seen outside of Jonathan Winters who was very funny as well. Rest in Peace Robin Williams and you will be missed!

    I consider the top three comedians of all time to be Robin Williams, Richard Pryor and Red Foxx.

    I too have a very heavy heart. I want to say it isn't so. I loved watching him do so many things. So sorry to hear he couldn't turn it around for himself. :(

    He'll be missed He has done a lot of incredible comedy roles and great drama as well.
    I know he has some substance abuse problems, and did a long time sober and recently did treatment in Minnesota.
    A lot like Jonathan Winters he also has Psych problems that just don't mix with substance abuse.
    sad just too bad to hear.
    he did a lot for children.

    My personal favorites were TOYS, Hook, What Dreams May Come. He was a great actor and the most talented improvisational stand up comedian I've ever seen.

    I can only echo the words already said... I grew up watching his films. Very sad indeed. I wish (western) health care had better support for preventative services, like mental health for example. :(
