I looked at the list concerning the number of lots available and I do agree they should have had more Town lots available based on demand. I think they assumed that the higher pledge groups wouldn't be grabbing the lower tier lots.

Im pretty sure they were aware. A good number of us shouted about this from the rooftops, to no avail. Many dev+ thread complaints and warnings went unheeded.

I'm not downplaying your pain, I hate that anyone needs to feel that disappointed :(. However, I don't think it's true that anything was oversold. Port added more towns to the work based on how many lots were sold. If port had sold 1/4 of the lots there would be 1/4 of the habitable land. I concede that there may be fewer PRT's but they would also have built a lot less NPC town content. I doubt all the Brittany suburbs (fields, estates, etc) would exists if sales of deeds weren't as high as they are.

I think the problem is that there are maybe a few hundred 'really good' (tm) lots in the game. Everyone feels that they have a shot at their special lot, but with thousands upon thousand of people with deeds that doesn't really reflect reality. Port delivered exactly what they promised (enough land +30%) but everyone wants the top 5% of lots.

The only time I've gone to Hidden Vale since Novia opened is to travel to Wizard's Rest to help @Lord Baldrith set up some Castle Walls. I don't understand how so many could shout Location, Location, Location for so long and then make Owl's Head so popular.

I think they should have had people place names on spots in list form. Then roll dice to see who gets the lots. Could put your name on many lists but once you claimed a lot then you are done for the duration and your name gets removed off of the other lists. But ya hindsight sucks lol

That's exactly my thinking too. If Owl's Head remains popular just because some players are motivated enough to make it so, then every other housing location has this opportunity, too.

well yes and no. There is a skill trainer there and it is also a quest hub. Not to mention it was the first town implemented.

True, so we see the effects of what it's become now, but now we have the chance to be first in other areas being implemented to create new communities that will similarly grow in the future.

Hopefully you are correct and we will have independent communities, do not the elite guids grab hold of your small towns friends.

beware the cabal, it has tentacles everywhere! You must hack at the roots!!! THE ROOTS!! - A passage from the Domdred Grimoire

I think that many of the veterans have got it into their heads that Owls head is the place to go because it was the first town to go into the game. The reality is that the three starting points in the game are in the mainland, and ultimately, once everyone settles in, the Vale may become irrelevant to many people.

The problem isn't the number of lots. It's the number of peopl who dreamed of having a awesome uber special snow flake lot which was never feasible.

If you look all the most desirable towns, they have unique landscaping and layouts. One reason people don't like the other NPC and PRT towns is because they're all clones. I'm not sure exactly how they're going to accomplish it with people moving in, but I know Port is still working on uncloning these other towns. That will create more desirable lots. Maybe Port should should prioritize uncloning the towns with the highest populations.

I suspect OH will enjoy some popularity since it is currently "close" to Brit (2 loading screens). There are many other towns which are further away. No control point either. There is also a reasonable density of pots and players on the Vale.

That said Brit is far more dense in terms of player numbers and (I'd guess) services. Brit is also closer to the starting points and better connected which makes you wonder "why travel further?" I've spent a fair bit of time on the Vale levelling it seems decent at low level at least. Popularity may continue but I do fear it isn't the place to be longer term (which is obviously Vanguard or Brit Fields ;-) ).
