R53 Livestream Missed Questions

    Here are the questions that we did not have time to get to during the R53 Livestream (which is also now on youtube). I tried my best to answer these (with help from the rest of the team) but some we just don't have details yet to provide. I probably won't have time to do any follow ups to these. The community did a great job assisting us this telethon to make sure we didn’t miss a single question.

    Please note I deleted some duplicate questions and also deleted any questions that we answered with the Q2 post or with the release of R53 or that we answered in previous livestreams. Also note that we are generally going to stop answering questions about "when?" as those are answered by our quarterly schedule posts and any other answers are going to be either "No ETA" or "soon" or "will update with the next quarterly post".

    A final thought: we see a LOT of repeat questions and requests. Please consider reading one of the other missed question posts, watching one of the previous livestreams, reading one of the transcripts, and/or reading our Post Episode 1 plan post before posting a question. Your question might have already been answered.

    Snupi: Will the prices on the website store get adjusted so that the customer price will be the same for all regions?
    STARR: I think you are trying to ask if we are going to reduce prices in locations where taxes are charged? At this time we do not plan on doing that.

    TeddyMIT: When are we going to reinforce the INT stats effects on magics? e.g. the higher the INT stats, the lower the preparation time for casting a magic spells.
    CHRIS: Intelligence is already very powerful for spells. The base for damage is based on Int + spell skill level. In my opinion that feels plenty strong to boost all spells base on int! On the other hand, I could see Dex making spell casting slightly faster!

    Greyfox: Why is so much time and effort spent on PVP?
    STARR: This is a complete misperception issue. No more time is spent on PVP than any other system and no more time is spent on balancing PVP combat as there is spent balancing PVE combat.

    Armeleon Vesaz: Can we get more slots to save decks? Frustrating to remake the same deck every day.
    STARR: We will consider

    Tor: It appears that chain armor and plate armor have nearly identical damage resistance numbers even though plate’s fizzle rate is much higher. Will we see any upcoming changes that makes plate armor a more viable option over chain armor?
    CHRIS: Plate has the same damage resistance BUT has a much higher damage avoidance which results in more glancing blows. This is an attempt to model reality where both plate and chains stop blows nearly as well but hits are more likely to glance off plate.

    Kron Caledon: Any thoughts on revising / updating the “Survey” skills? With the new harvest node highlighting, these skills are not very useful. Perhaps an increased chance at the rarer drops from the node.
    STARR: Yes we are considering

    Oakenhammer: What is the design philosophy regarding additional tiers of crafting materials?
    STARR: This is a pretty open ended question and not sure of the intent.

    Doctorface: With Brewing coming in R54 will we be getting a dedicated bar building?
    STARR: Not sure what a dedicated “bar building” would be? The Inn is one such building and most of our homes can be configured to be a bar using the actual bar decoration.

    Datendrache: Does or will the locking mechanism serve a purpose for a crafted chest?
    STARR: Eventually

    Elrond: How do you plan to incentivize crafters to sell powerful crafted items to NPC?
    STARR: We fully intend that most of these will be sold directly between players. We have considered a slight price increase on what merchants will pay for crafted goods but we are waiting to see where the market stabilizes after our recent changes.

    Ancev: Any thoughts on a small chance to salvage rare components such as insignias, magic inscriptions, notes or other sorts of oddities from the worn armor types?
    STARR: Interesting suggestion.

    Doctorface: Can guild masters get the ability to send out a daily message to our guild that they will get upon logging in?
    STARR: Yes

    Datendrache: Would you please have the top of the real-life hour to be Daytime in game time so we don’t start all our player run events in the dark?
    STARR: Good observation. We could change this but it would have very far reaching implications. We are considering.

    Ainanymous: Can we please be able to rebind our Sprint to another key? Double-tap forward jams up on me a lot due to lag and combat interrupts.
    CHRIS: It would be easy to allow for players to bind sprint to a key but might be awkward because to sprint, you have to keep holding the key down. We can investigate though. Might make sense to make it work with double tap W but also allow a ctrl-W option.

    Merv DeGriff: Will specialization affect summoned pets beyond increasing attunement? My lovely lil’ phoenix could use some love.
    CHRIS: They will but likely not for R54. Trying to focus on just a few things for balance so I can make some major performance upgrades.

    Vladamir Begemot: Flamenco/Spanish/Gypsy outfits for an upcoming Livestream please.
    STARR: Fun!

    Elrond: Can we have crafted gear that enhances gathering abilities? Or enchants that do that?
    STARR: We can consider but we have been keeping those to potions, foods, and blessings for now.

    Tolgator: Could you add an option to visually not show an equipped cloak or hat on your character while still benefiting of its stats? Basically make it invisible? Thanks.
    STARR: In PVE yes but not in PVP

    Ainanymous: Can we please get the option to receive a receipt from vendors as a buyer?
    STARR: Yes

    Thatshawnguy: Can pot owners get a mail when a lot is claimed, unclaimed, expired, etc?
    STARR: Yes

    Thatshawnguy: Can guild members also get the tenant flag on guild houses so their stuff goes to their bank if a lot is unclaimed, expires, etc?
    STARR: Yes

    Almar: Can we please have recipes as place-able deco? Especially for hanging on house interior walls?
    STARR: Yes

    Majoria70: I want to make an upscale theater and concert hall. Can we get some other versions and sizes to make beautiful places to hold our concerts and plays?
    STARR: Yes!
    CHRIS: Absolutely would love to have these. Would also be a fun place to hold a dance party with players dancing on a stage! Just need to build in a fixed DJ station!


    Nick: Heraldry Banners are rather expensive, would you guys consider lowering the price of the banner or make it 2 pairs of banners (2 long, 2 short banners) instead of 1?
    STARR: Heraldry items are currently priced to account for the review process associated with them but we will consider.

    Val Ravar: Could we get planter beds for oysters on waterlots to make them have a go with agriculture mechanics?
    STARR: We will consider

    Sheamus: Can we get some new Gustball items to inject some interest back into the game?
    STARR: Yes

    Vulgaren: Can we have the ability to, for a small fee, to have a personalized gravestones permanently placed in places in game scenes that are dear to our hearts?
    STARR: We will consider but we have to think about how this would scale

    Barugon: When will I be able to use the Property Manager to move my stuff from a keep lot to a keep island?
    STARR: Please review the guideline for questions about scheduling.

    Ancev: Can we get patterns for the practice dummies, and perhaps some rare ones in the loot table?
    STARR: Cool idea

    Dereck Visaard: Can you please consider a magic mover / trade enhancement that allows one player to transfer the contents of a magic move slot to another player?
    STARR: Yes

    Dereck Visaard: Can we please have a way to add a property manager to a property once such that they get property manager access for every door on the property? Manually updating 15+ doors on an inn is painful and error prone.
    STARR: Yes

    Promiscuity: Can we get either an extension of the open window or some mechanic that allow the Lost Vale to be open at times other than 12, 4 or 8 am/pm.
    STARR: We will consider

    Paladin Michael: Any thoughts about spreading a treasure each month/quarter in Novia/Hidden Vale?
    STARR: Perhaps

    Val Ravar: Could planetary positions or special materials enable us narrow the randomness of enchanting? In Masterworking crafter should always know what they are making so not going to touch that.
    STARR: Perhaps

    Griffler: Could we get some updates to the chat system please. Chat channel tabs that Blink when a new message is contained in an unfocused chat tab would be Hugely helpful has been widely requested. Also Log windows, the ability to pull out a chat tab and mark it as log only, so we can have a single window open with our loot/emotes/etc. that we do Not want to chat in. When you press enter to chat, and your cursor appears in a chat window you have unchecked All the chat boxes in, it forces that window to update with whatever chat you've attempted to enter, so that window is now a chat window and no longer a log window.
    STARR: Yes, we will have a polish pass on the chat UI this year

    Warrior B’Patrick: Can we get a set of three (or more) paintings that look good separately but when put side by side they create a larger landscape picture
    STARR: Interesting

    Despothes: When will there be more tier 3 components, and are there plans to improve drop rates and/or salvage rates on existing components?
    STARR: Q3 for more components. We are discussing drop and salvage rates.

    Koldar: What physical goods will be physically signed?
    STARR: All physical goods that were promised to be signed will be signed. Some of them will be done via a sticker that was signed and then placed on the object (example Tinker Certificate). Other items like the cloth map will be signed directly.

    Tharizdun Baphomet: In the next release will the Chaos Demon be overhauled?
    STARR: Please review the guideline for questions about scheduling.

    Tharizdun Baphomet: Is There a chance that tamers could possible tame some of the younger dragons that are rumored to be invading?
    STARR: Yes

    Tharizdun Baphomet: will there be skills that are tied to specific specializations?
    CHRIS: This is planned but not for this release. Still trying to catch up on balance and performance before spending a significant chunk of time on these!

    Tharizdun Baphomet: Could Undead Mastery scale like the Staff of Death so Death Summons have better scaling?
    CHRIS:I’ll be taking another look at summons soon as part of expanding the Specializations. I’ll try and take a look at these then.

    Daxxe Diggler: Can we get more diversity in the "Paintings" as loot? I seem to be getting the same few over and over and would like to see a wider variety.
    STARR: Yes

    Tristano Visconti: can we have inn for water lots?
    STARR: Interesting suggestion

    Bushmaster: Will Darkstarr update the "2 year plan" with any new stuff added, and strik out items done?
    STARR: Eventually

    Bushmaster: Is there any news if we are getting closer to having some rework on fishing?

    Lockey Abernathy: Now that we have the Boar Heads will there be an Alchemy Potion using the heads that way adds a ??% to say stun/confuse/mesmerize Resist?
    STARR: Perhaps

    Hemswal: Will there be craftable heraldy patterns that look different from the addon store heraldry patterns?
    STARR: No plans for them at this time. The cost to review the submissions for heraldry currently precludes this.

    Hemswal: Will we be able to create private instances for the dragon event?
    STARR: No

    Hemswal: Who has the most negative individual truth, love, and courage scores? Top 5? Who has the most positive individual truth, love, and courage scores? Top 5?
    STARR: We don’t like to give out names without explicit permission

    Ancev: As a result of having the ability to put containers inside of containers, will we be able to put bags, storage containers, and crates on vendors and have the ability to double click the container to view the contents inside? (selling an entire set of armor for one price, for example)
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Ancev: Will automaton pets ever have the ability to perform tasks in the game? I'd like the ability to upgrade my automaton's hardware and operating system to allow it to do different stuff and maybe a command interface. Perhaps I could enter all my sales receipts into it and it could sort the data.. something something
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Ancev: Any chance we'll be able to make something like a 'bronze elven hilt' so that a blacksmith's crafted component creates more desirable final product? vs the loot based elven hilt simply being the best option?(edited)
    STARR: There are plenty of player crafted items that are just as good but in different ways

    Ancev: Would really like to get a teleporter I can put in my house, that is linked to a room in my basement? for example, a teleporter near my blacksmith and smelting station in the main house, and it links to a storage room in the basement dedicated to blacksmithing, carpentry, tailoring etc. a basement hatch teleporter that drops you into a specific room
    STARR: Interesting

    Solstys: Currently chest patterns include Crafting symbols. Are there any plans to add Combat and Magic chest patterns? Akin to signs which have all three types?
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Cenewulf: Will there be more Viking themed equipment like chainmail Hauberks?
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Cenewulf: Is there any chance we will see bard related skills in the foreseeable future?
    Cenewulf: Will we see any sort of combat skills involving using instruments?
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Cenewulf: Could we get NPC escort quests ala Ultima Online
    STARR: Perhaps eventually

    Brogan Murphy: Can we get recipe for making Curing Salt out of Salt Ingots? Would make the Salt Ingots a little more useful…
    STARR: Yes

    Mia sway: any chance that enchantment's might get an over hall? 2 handed enchant vs one handed. offensive spell enchants for sun and air, shield/bow gem enchants
    STARR: Yes

    Mia sway: any chance of sun magic getting another attack spell?
    CHRIS: Yes, long overdue! I have 2 new spells planned but not implemented for Sun and 2 new spells for Moon and 1 spell in each of those skills will be attack based.

    Olahorand: Can members of the localization teams get access to all emotes? It is hard to translate those somewhat properly without seeing their meaning and implementation. Also - could the scrivener cloak add double experience while worn to compensate a bit for all the lost time for playing the game?
    STARR: We could provide an offline save file with those emotes. We will not be adding double experience to the cloak. Localization team already receives other compensation for their time.

    Minerva: Can POTS place a Moon Tower to protect from Sieges? That would be awesome for owners and also fit the story line.
    STARR: Because devotionals provide such benefit the offset is sieges. Negating that with something as simple as a Moon Tower would be unbalanced. The Moon Towers would have to have some kind of upkeep cost on par with the inconvenience and material costs of a siege (teleport scrolls, material wear & tear from battle, etc.).

    Acaelus Fireharp: would it be possible to make the ornate silver kitchen knives equippable as weapons?
    STARR: We can consider.

    Infineon: Can we please make something about the people that buy the game through Steam to make it a bundle so we can upgrade it?
    STARR: You can upgrade your Steam purchase to any of the bundles

    Kron Caledon: For reactive skills, can you please add UI feedback to the glyphs (like an outline or color change) for reactive "window"? Right now we have to stare at the combat chat log
    CHRIS: Agree that something is needed… Just not sure what the best solution is.

    NoMalic: Is there any chance of getting adjustable buff icons on the interface? I find the default size too small to make out.
    CHRIS: I believe the source icons for those are at least 4x what we display. The small size is just so we can fit them all in the limited space

    Falcon Rainfeather: can we get a cooking tutorial for new players?
    STARR: We would love for the community to help us with that!

    Cryodacry: With the changes to virtue gear.... It appears my Bonesteel Crown has lost all 10 int. Is there a plan to implement something of DR / Max DR with no fizzle for the Anti Virtues. That or add the Anti Virtues to the Bonesteel Crown ?
    STARR: We are reevaluating but this was based on Lord British's vision for the Dread Artifacts.

    Majoria70: Can we please make it so we can explore ships and shipwrecks that we see on the waterways? It is just no fun they we can't explore everywhere we want. Please, please, please.
    STARR: The issue is that a lot of the ships and shipwrecks we use for those do not yet have actual collision that allows for that but we are slowly fixing that.

    Kal Knightwolf: Can we get a All White Grim Reapers Mask to match my white Shroud. I kind of want to go all white reaper. The original does dry but it bleeds through the colors. Thank!
    STARR: Great idea!

    Oyjord: Can we please have more animals to tame, and for them to have more unique abilities? Ty.
    STARR: Yes

    Benquin Odeveca aka [ShiftPC]: Any chance of adding the search function to the in game map like the one on the website?
    STARR: Unlikely

    Leonard Llywelyn: Can we not clear the Alternate Deck when switching decks with hotkeys? So i can have the alternate fixed while switching between others with ctrl+1, or ctrl+2., etc
    CHRIS:I didn’t realize it was doing this! Not by design. Making a bug for this now.

    Drew: Why can't we cut down ANY tree in a given instance? There needs to be more cuttable trees.
    STARR: Mainly because of performance because that would mean all of those trees would have to be dynamic objects which are more expensive than static objects. However there is also economic reasons because that would exponentially increase the amount of resources in the game.

    Drew: When will we be able to dye armor, and when will we see more types of Heavy Armor, or at least Shogun Heavy Armor Patterns?

    Lomyr Edain: Will we be getting to ride horses any time soon? also use boats and balloon ships?

    Brual Virpio: How do pets/summons interact with the bonus healing on life spells for casters not having dealt damage recently?
    CHRIS: Pets do not impact the healer’s bonus. So yes, currently having a Life + Taming mastery is a pretty sweet option!

    Draugur: Can you make it so items in backpacks do NOT show up in a vendors list when we go to sell? Or is this a bug?
    STARR: We can consider

    Drake Aedus (w/ Avatars Radio!): Can there be a tech that lets us cover default chandeliers with player placed ones?
    STARR: Perhaps

    Bella Bones: There are a lot of NPCs who don't have dialogue. Can those npcs have a story type dialogue that provides tips and tricks to the game?
    STARR: Perhaps

    Bella Bones: Can we have guildstones?
    STARR: Yes

    Bella Bones: There is an NPC public vendor in Harvest who has long blonde hair with a fishtail braid down the back. Can we have that as an option for our avatars?
    STARR: Yes

    Arcano: have you considered removing the camera animation to all crafting tables and when talking to npc's to optimize the game more?
    STARR: Unfortunately that will not improve performance

    ChrisPallid: Can our POT deeds in offline mode be changed to Place Anywhere deeds?
    STARR: They have been that way for a very long time.

    @DarkStarr For clarification I meant something like the first floor of the inns and that's it, a big open space with the back room for the kitchen,maybe with an open area above the door that we can put runic letters on.

    Did anyone hear iof this question got answered during the livestream? I could have missed it during a couple of moments I was away.

    1) I just found out that “Free Cam” (camera can be in front of me while I walk) is already implemented when using instruments. Since it’s already in, is there any chance that could make it into non-instrument walking/running without a huge amount of effort?

    Would be great if we could hide unimportant ones during a fight so that the critical ones could be bigger. I can check my food buffs between battles, I don't need to see my devotional buffs at that time either.

    As someone who knows people who actually wear plate and has worn chain.. I kind of have to wonder about this. Chain does very little to actually absorb impacts. Sure it's great to stop slashing but chain isn't going to keep your bones from breaking...

    This made more sense before the avoidance changes a few releases ago since now the percentage is not a true representation and merely a piece of a formula therefore 10% more avoidance is not nearly as effective as it was previously

    Please sir, do this (i mean only the emote part and how about an offline with EVERYTHING on it for us, so we can properly test the translations, the others i laughed hard). And while you are at it... i'd like to you at least consider reading the message i sent you about localization some days ago - you and @Attenwood btw. I'm from Brazilian team and got some propositions with you guys that could speed things up by A LOT, but i need you to listen first. So, pretty please? ;)

    @Chris

    If this is the case then you need to do a balancing pass. Avoidance sources need to be mitigated in the game and avoidance needs to be brought up to some of it's former glory. By reconsidering the sources of avoidance i am looking at Bone Armor. Light armor should not be providing Avoidance in terms of Glancing the blows... You are using Avoidance as a crutch for balancing Heavy Armor in you reasoning. Reality is that Avoidance has been brought down to a level where it's negated the reason of using plate armor.

    Personally i've switched to Chain since i get the same DR and it's 30% cheeper to make ? It is also worth noting that Chain gives avoidance also.

    The whole Armor model needs re-addresses as Everyone uses the heaviest armor they can afford with their fizzel. The saving grace for plate was going to be the individual damage type resistances you planned on implementing but it appears that is extremely back of the bus now. This was the slash / pierce / blug resistance for armor that you made mention of god knows how long ago.

    I still think the DR values of Plate need to be doubled by specialization. You might get me interested in training into heavy spec if you did so ... Right now Heavy spec is just lacking incentive for use.

    Can we make suggestions as to what and who we would like to see as a Practice Dummy Patterns?
    Could stats be kept on the number of each and the collective damage dolled out to each?
    Taking a lesson from Ultima Online, if there are harvestable resources in a scene, they will ALL be harvested... Constantly... and the scenes would be a denuded wasteland of stumps all the time.

    About this question, I tried a few times to see if is possible the upgrade and i couldn't.
    It show me this, a litle help since you say it is posible to upgrade the game that it was buyed through Steam.
