@Cora Cuz'avich my point was a vote is futile and opens up more cans of worms than it solves - look at my own countries debarcle with Brexit which is a right mucking fudle and put us back into the dark ages IMHO.

As to any future nice to see features we'd all like to see implemented, lets get the basics working properly first, it seems to be key to why player retention is so low at present with so many elements being broken.

I guess everyone's an expert. However, I know dozens of development shops with customers that would strongly disagree with you, and they happen to run their business on feedback and voting mechanisms similar to that, but hey, what do i know...

Ah, but here is the counter point. Your fears are based on an absolute following of the vote, which was not what was proposed or discussed.
Instead a selection would be made by Port where they if they so chose they could be influenced by the vote.

    Big difference there.

Also the starting point was DarkStarr saying that he couldn't keep doing these Livestream Missed Questions. Which is understandable since the ROI is unclear. Thus the suggestions on how to make something workable that wouldn't require as much effort from the devs.

Fella that's rather strong, I said 'in my experiences' really don't take it to heart so quickly! I backed it up with area of business I specialise in, I don't deal with marketers I cannot comment on that section of the business world, seems you do and got all upset on me *sigh*

@Spoon I really hope Port don't listen to the community anymore, too many individual agenda's that got into Ep.1 I'd rather they created a game and said we'll do some fluffy stuff for you near the end of Ep.2 cycle and listen to player input then.

A lot of the community 'noise' for what they want to see at present to save the game is basically frivolous fluff, unless the basics such as combat, in game frame rate, broken quests, PvP, travel, economy etc. are addressed but too many community members still prefer to put their head in the sand or take offense if you slightly disagree or offer a different opinion.

Nah, I get your point but I'd disagree.

Its all in the execution really. Yes, one shouldn't listen too much to specific user demands (the duke wall debacle comes to mind), however one should definitely consider the users' feedback as input on decision making.
So I think you and I agree in principle, but not in execution.

So to make that point let me give you an example.

Here is me having a bit of fun back in 2014
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/mimic-in-the-add-on-store.15265/
    I requested a Pet Mimic.

Which would have been a very silly thing for them to implement with a very low ROI probability.

It was after all a tongue in cheek kinda suggestion, but lo and behold, a year later:
    So what had happened?

Well, Portalarium had already made a promise on a special animal call for pledge rewards. But hadn't specified which animal/pet would come from the animal call.
So they took something which they had already promised to make and adjusted that according to a player suggestion.

Which is the correct way of doing such things.
However where I think Portalarium failed on that one is that they didn't make a story/article/clickbait about it and pointed out that it was from player request. Instead they just snuck it in. (Which is typical of Portalarium).

So, just because one has a suggestion forum (which we already have in the Wish section), and just because users can vote, doesn't mean that one should implement all the user suggestions.

However if you are going to do something anyway then incorporating user input into such creates much more user engagement - something which is massively important for niche games.

If we take an outside example look at how Fortnite made a competition out of adding such a simple thing as an emote. Look at all the press and all the user engagement they got out of that.
For something which they were already planning to do (add more emotes).
    That is a smart strategy.
    https://www.google.com/search?ei=MY...ab..0.10.934...0j0i67k1j0i131k1.0.l7VPZuM6DT4

Imagine if Portalarium made such a competition with suggestions and upvotes and social media attention etc. This since they are already adding new emotes at a rate of 1+ per release.

@Spoon yup I to think we agree more than disagree sir, the execution has been woeful at best sometimes, issue is there's so much hot air their (devs) damned either way.

BTW loved my mimic so thx for that, think it died though as I don't know where it is these days hidden away under so many crafting components, discarded pictures and dirty chopping boards.

Yes! More PR! I'm not sure how to get past the wall of no press right now, but things like the free home deed should have been getting picked up far and wide. Same with new PvP modes. There is good news every month, but little of it makes it out to the world.

    Absolutely, sire.

Yea, they changed it so one had to go pretty far up the taming tree for the pet resurrection spell so one could get it back after it died. *sigh*

    Yes.

And my point was that the questions are already being asked as a standard part of every release livestream. We're not talking about voting what we want the devs to work on, we're talking about voting as a potential way to reduce the number of and better focus those questions.

i think the problem is they don't have a standard coordinate system between scenes, so they can't easily determine where the center is

Which has Nothing Whatsoever to do with finding and marking the center point of a static graphic on the UI.

i'm not so sure. i don't think the inconsistency is on the map end, but actually in the scenes. each worldbuilder doing their own thing.

    @Alley Oop

I think it is a misunderstanding of the request.

The players like @Rufus D`Asperdi are talking about a UI arrow at the exact middle of the compass UI box (like in the pic). It would be completely static and never move regardless of the map since it would be a part of the non-moving part of the UI.
This helps just like on a real life compass to align the 'needle' which in this case would be the letters of the moving part.

What @Rok Yrikk was talking about was something completely different, in that it would be a moving marker showing the way to the center of the map (which would be much more easily solved with a poi, but I digress).

Which begs the question, what did you and Darkstarr think was meant? (Not intended as snarky, but since the request seemed really clear to me, I'm not certain what else it could have meant.)
