    Question: do you plan to use automated regression tests after game launch? (I assume you don't use them now because everything is too fluid.)

    We have hundreds of unit tests, integration, and data validation tests that run continuously for most things which is part of what makes it possible for us to not break EVERYTHING on a daily basis. Regression testing is likely not feasible fore most systems though we do try and create general integration tests for most stuff when it feels fragile.

    As a not quite daily player my decay just doubled on the first death. Weeeeee!

    Does this actually mean that we get double the amount of decay, or that the time it takes for the same amount of decay to accrue takes twice as long?

    Also, is there any chance of seeing this tied into in-game time, rather than real-time? Even accruing decay quickly while logged in (say, 4 hours to max) would save casuals a ton of decay compared to having it already maxed every day when we log in.

    So the service disruption over April Fool's day was really due to router/firewall and not because of Trammucca deployment broke it based on those conspiracy theorists out there?

    This is awesome stuff Chris. I've been talking with tphilipp a lot since the outtage, a lot of good stuff relating to the datacenter side of things which is my specialty in life as well. Its been awesome to talk to him about technical things (not to deep, hes not giving up any secrets, higher level data center discussions). Your session on Tech Tuesday have also been great as to kinda the "mathematics" behind stuff in the game. Good stuff!!!!!

    Twice as long to build up twice as much. Just increases the max cap for how much decay can be built up between deaths.

    Yah, sadly, one of our only single points of failure failed. It didn't break existing connections but no new connections could be created. 18 players survived the entire "downtime" and never left the game but you couldn't zone or login.

    Well, maybe for players who are on 20 hours at a time. For casuals, this just means they take twice as much of a hit when they die, because they only play an hour or two per day. Whether its 12 hours or 24 hours, we've still basically maxxed out decay when we die.
