Yes, our best guess is Unity changed how they deal with garbage collection in 5.6 without letting us know. Its new behavior is brutal and even causes sound to stutter.

Is Ice Field part of this "people think it is bug" or is it really bugged? Casting Ice Field causes a 3 or 4 second global cooldown. Cannot even charge an attack during this time.
Not sure if intended or a separate issue. Thank you.

I noticed the global cooldown preventing charged attack this weekend, which really was hurting any attempt at damage. Of course, the only real place I could make gold was also nerfed, so there wasn't as much point in doing damage.

Looking for suggestions on a new T4 camp.

@Chris can you share the details of what spec a target machine has? Might help us see if our results are lower (or higher) due to hardware. Thanks

8GB, quad core, 3+ ghz, Nvidia 760 or better is roughly the target.

Will we get Vulkan as a selectable rendering option this release? (On Linux)

I've noticed that, I get a lot of sound stutter in the loading screens starting about 50%.

    Mac? Linux?

I believe it must be a bug, looks related to more spells then too. It practically makes a slowdown spell worthless if I cannot attack in any form while the enemy is slow. :)

Hmm, just found others talking about the same effect in the "how do I turn off heat" thread.

Found bug report for the charged attack part. Hope it gets noticed. It also affects glyphs, not just charged attack.

From @Chris on his 5/30/2017 entry:
C'mon, you and @Lord British and the rest of the crew HAVE to be more imaginative. May I suggest in-game antics (e.g., participating in a PvP tournament to allow someone a chance to get your skull/bones, etc.).
I hope you are serious. You would have EVERYONE throwing a lot of well-deserved love at you and the team! Can we get an in-game reward if your gauntlet throwing skills are a fail? :)

Finally, here is to hoping that if R43 is a success for performance gains, that you consider R44 and maybe R45 to flesh out existing content (see recent post by @majoria70).

And because I have never participated as much with a community (RP or otherwise) in a game, and because I will never stop asking, how about something for player-made content in R46 or thereafter? :p

Good luck with that. Let's hope you can get there without turning down render distances even more, I'm already running into that chruch in Owl's Head before it loads almost every day.

Goal is also to improve or maintain visuals. Lights are usually what kill our frame rates in cities. We need a better system to manage scenes like Brittany, which has roughly 4000 dynamic lights. Yes, 4000... not a typo. :/

    I have 16 GB Ram, i7-4790K CPU @ 4GHz & faster of the GTX 970's.

I also run one SSD for my OS and another for my currently played games.

I exceed the target spec of course but I'm curious whether any upgrades would result in significantly faster load-times, or if I should just sit back and wait for optimizations. If I could get 30% more performance (okay, load-times) from upgrading a particular component I would be tempted.

Where is the bottleneck for SotA atm for those considering system upgrades?

you should be fine now with those spec which are similar to mine (signature has specs).

I zone 95% of zones in 20 seconds and big ones like brit and Ardoris in 40.

I have a major advantage in having an m.2 drive which significantly faster then a regular SATA SSD (300,o00 iops vs 900 on my 8 TB WD spinny drive).

Once performance is up, will you make a decision on increasing lot and POT deco limits, or will you wait until more optimization work is done ?

I cant see this happening for some time.

What we are seeing in game is the loading up of deco in the game slowly over time.

My city Obsidian tower is not even half full and its already getting to the point where it does tax my GTX980. Now take a scene with 50 houses with their deco limits filling up.

I think we will probably see deco limits raise with computer technology over the next few years. When the GTX2080 comes out, I'll buy it and then my card could probably deal with 4x the deco's in a zone that my gtx980 could.

    @2112Starman

I'd like to see POT deco limits increased sooner than later if not lot limits. I don't want half a town wall and no other decos!

absolutely agree. Im limited to 100 in my PoT (70 used).

But I think they have limited those for only one reason they have mentioned a few times, they didnt want PoT's being "big houses" for people. I really think this is silly, just let us deco our PoTs. The items we can place are already limited.

Load-times should be predominantly how fast you can get the data off that SSD. The only thing you might be able to do to help is going from a SATA SSD to a NVMe SSD (NVMe was designed from the ground up to supposed flash, and is therefore faster than SATA).

That said, the difference shouldn't be anywhere near the difference between spinning rust and SSD.
