Somewhere between Release 90 or Release 91 they should implement a system of sockets to gear, where salvaging an artifact will have a chance to give you a socket you will be able to use on crafted gear to grant the item benefits from the salvaged artifact. This is the info I've picked up, is potentially incorrect or incomplete, but can give you an idea of what is coming.

And like Anpu said, reading the Release notes can provide very valuable information! Don't skip them!

I'm on page 15 and haven't seen anyone update this. You can now have all three NPCs in your group in offline mode.

"A few million experience points" ROFLMAO I have upwards of 200 million XP now and I struggle to survive in Tier 8 areas!

 

I played exclusively offline for the first few months and loved having Fiona shoot stuff and heal me. I don't know how strong the other 2 NPCs are but one thing that disappointed me was that NPCs don't gain XP and advance like they did in the classic Ultimas. They'd be like ping pong balls against bowling balls in Tier 6 areas or higher.

 

Perhaps at some point they will fix that. Especially now that Episode 2 is out. Either that or offline will find themselves soloing, if the companions are not able to keep up.

I hope they do fix it. Although most of my time is spent playing online, I love the Ultima concept of traveling around with your companions, and I hope I can do this for Shroud of the Avatar as well.

 

ARGH! I was putzing around in Twins Foothills when I happened upon a Ferocious Obsidian Bear. 7 Potion of Health, Greaters later I had it down to 1 pixel of hit points and let it kill me because I wasn't paying attention!! ARGH!

I want REVENGE! (and dammit I want the experience points I left on the table because I was stupid!)

It was only the second FOB I've seen in the game, they seem awfully rare - any suggestions for where to find another one?

I ran into one in a wolf overland encounter a couple days ago.

Maybe in Ruined Keep? If you take the trail down to the left from the entrance, there's some higher level bears that spawn. I don't remember which ones exactly, though.

 

I do a lot of gathering in Twins Foothills, so I know the bear is on that spot pretty often. I think it spawns at night, though not every night. But it's not seasonal.

 

TF is a GREAT place to do gathering, and the thug and rogue/swashbuckler fights are fun. Having an FOB to also look forward to, not to mention Elysium Mines in the NE corner, may basically glue me to that region.

I was so pissed that I lost the fight that I forgot to note where I was. I want to say I found him in the area to the west of the south entrance where there are also usually 2 or 3 grand boars and an obsidian stag - sound about right?

 

right! also 7 trees and lots of other resources. Unless I've been around

 

An OBSIDIAN DESTROYER just spawned there. I had NO CHANCE.

 

OK, so I just paid for Episode 2. Is there an overland map that shows how to get to places like Lamech's Bazaar?

 

Not really. There's maps showing POTs, but nobody has bothered to make a map showing scenes. There's and overworld map when you're there. It's not that big, though, so it's not too tough to find the scenes. Lamech's is pretty much straight north from the boat landing, by the hot springs.

 

I was going to respond with that map, but it doesn't have any scene locations on it...

Also, I was wrong about Lamech's, it's NW of the boat landing. It's the spot by the mountain in the center of the large middle island.

 

is that one on the northeast of the back myrkur? that's lower east side of the head isle.
