Ranged was nerfed hard

    @Chris said that just Rapid Fire and Multi-Shot would really be affected by the armor changes but after trying it out, all ranged damage seems to have taken a massive hit. :(

    Yea, ranged was just middle of the road before r41.

    and there's a R40 thread that wants a ranged tree boost ^^ that dude ain't gonna be happy lol

    Oh, great...ranged is my primary skill :( I didn't think the nerf would be that bad :eek: Guess I better work on those magic skill trees now...o_O

    I pretty much just plan on training everything to 60 (or at least 40) at this point, so I can switch around each release.

    That's exactly what I have done (about 80% of my skills are in the 60s and 70s, 19% in the 40s and 50s, and 1% in the 80s) :) At this point, I think it is more important to be versatile than GM level a narrow range of skills (which might end up getting nerfed...) :rolleyes:

    Probably due to the increased resistances that mobs have, they note in the R41 notes that mobs, especially warriors were going to be more resistant to physical hits like melee and bows but on the flip side, they dropped the melee mobs hp to even it out. I tested my blunt yesterday and I could drop the melee just as fast as before with the differences.

    I just finished raised this Release my ranged skills (5 of them ) to GM! Rest are between 40-80. Lol.

    It was a long road now what to do?? From here. Hmmm. Wait my Obsidian Bear! Taming should be fixed... ;)

    If they said we are gonna hit less, with armor/resistance changes to mobs, we also need to check the hp change they got and see how much time we need now to kill same mobs.

    I did not try myself but I don't see the bow dmg needs a nerf. Maybe Rapid is the only one I see a bit OP compared to the rest (at GM).

    Curious if anyone in this thread has actually tried it or if you are just responding to me saying it would be impacted? I ask because the difference is super small to nothing depending on the target.

    I will test it tonight by doing the same thing in prod and qa in Deep Ravenswood against wolves and
    Bears. And post my results here.

    Work gets in the way of me wanting to play SOTA 24x7!

    I was having trouble with green elder wolves last night. I wonder how the rest of melee is doing.

    I was trying it out last night. I'll do some more tonight.

    [edit] I was using a crossbow last night. Maybe the strength bonus for longbow has more of an impact than I expected.

    And, Multi-Shot is broken.

    @Chris My test for tonight - I used the skill locked own in my combat bar. No stacking.

    Stats:
    Str- 50 Dex - 61 Int - 40
    Health - 553 Focus - 678
    Ranged Combat: 101
    Eagle Eye: 69
    Draw Strength: 65

    Aimed Shot = 100 (GM) Test

    wolves
    Prod - # of hits to kill: 7 Damage average: 71.42 = killed wolf
    QA - # of hits to kill: 13 Damage average: 39.92 = killed wolf

    bear, partriarch
    Prod - # of hits to kill: 12 Damage average: 75.91 = killed bear
    QA - # of hits to kill: 20 Damage average: 33.75 = Death, could not kill the bear

    So is the tutorial wrong in recommending a new player to learn this combat skill at the beginning of the game?

    I went out with a founder longbow tonight and while the damage is not quite as low as a founder crossbow (51 strength BTW), it's still much reduced overall across all skills. I think that since the Draw Strength bonus is so low, it should be doubled.
