Perhaps each alt needs an orb ?

 

Apparently you get one orb per character slot so each alt can have one. I haven't tested that yet, but that's what I read on discord @Jaesun

 

I only got 1 orb. I have 2 characters on my account?

I have 3 characters on my account and only got 2 orbs. I'm going to go file a bug, it seems like they have an off by one error.

 

I don't recall seeing an orb when I logged in. Are you supposed to claim it as a reward or is it in your inventory?

 

Check your rewards. There’s a new chest top right of the ui. Click that.

 

I clicked that but the only new item I received was the Aether Dragon Statue. I'll check again tonight though. Thanks!

Yes I have three characters and only one orb

 

Players who have previously purchased the game will receive a complimentary Universe Broadcast Orb.

Based off that description, I assume it’s intended to be 1 orb per account.

 

Wow, I feel vindicated. I have been saying this since day one on UO release. Even back then on forums I begged people to stop killing new players because they were all quitting. In the 20 years past I have argued with people that Tram saved UO and it would have died without it and everyone argued with me. Now we have the official VP saying it right here.

 

Hmm might have to splash out on a couple more then

 

I think what @Duke Gréagóir is referring to, are the two new child NPC's Kinga and Ronin. If those two NPC's have personalized heads then he will be upset.

How many times have you been bothered by people coming in your house with it unlocked ? Not enough people are playing for it to even be the slightest concern. And now nobody can appreciate your deco giving players one less reason to go into a town.

 

I've had the experience of accidentally logging in in multiplayer to my house and having it full of some random guild. Seriously. And yes, these properties were decorated with the idea that those who wanted to enjoy seeing how they were decorated could do so. But only so long as I never had to see/encounter those individuals. That option has been taken away from me, so now all my properties are locked and will remain that way.

 

Well, that is an extremely rare occurence. Nothing of the like has ever happened to me in 5 years.

I met one person outside my house onetime, and that was it.

Hell I'd love to see someone at the house.

 

Yeah, different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes.

The other experience I had when accidentally being in multiplayer online a different time was having the misfortune of coming across to players on the world map who were in some sort of BDSM + Role playing fantasy, spamming anyone in their vicinity with a bunch of stupid crap I would have been happy to have spent my entire life not reading. So I'm really just not a fan of this forced multiplayer stuff. As I've said before, it could have been implemented in a much better fashion than was done by simply replacing the useless "party" mode with a default "mixed" mode that does npc/world map multi and adventuring scenes as private, which I think the large majority of the playerbase would use (such as yourself, I'm guessing). That would have given great flexibility to the game and not alienated good portions of the existing player base.

 

I've never seen another person in my house. Come to think of it, I've never seen another person in my town.
