I just realized that FireLotus's tavern IS a RP corner... are we sure that's not sufficient?

 

It's not so obvious. It's more like "any kind of stories plus some other stuff" forum.

 

I would say leave the stories there and let the organization and discussion threads stay here

 

Fire Lotus Tavern doesn't SAY role-players. It doesn't communicate (aka advertise) that here be role-players. Its like if we called the New Player forum "Bob's Basement Pub".

In fact nothing on the main site nor any of the main boards uses the word role-players. The term role-playing game is used, but that term has been used for far to many games for far to long to ever mean "Hey look we have a community of role-players."

Just to be very upfront, new players generally do not spend a lot of time LOOKING around or digging for things.

I've sent people to look at the game, friends who are role-players, and they come back and say, "Meh doesn't seem like they have a RP community", and even if I say, "Oh yeah but this, and that and this", there response is, "Doesn't look that way."

My goal is to solve that initial perception by prospective players.

 

The problem I see is that while Fire Lotus Tavern is a a cool name for a forum, if you look at every single other main forum name, it doesn't mean anything to a new person coming in. If we could, at the very least, get (Role Play Boards) added to the name, it would at least describe what was inside of it.

Again, no disrespect to Fire Lotus or her Tavern, but it just seems an odd place to "squirrel away" the role play community if that's not what it's going to be named

 

As I said earlier in the discussion... IF Fire Lotus Tavern is decided by TPTB to be the appropriate place for all the RPer content, that's fine, but if that is the case, it really needs a more obvious title, like "The Fire Lotus Tavern - RP Community Hub". Right now, both with the name and even the description, it just looks and sounds like "game-related socializing", not for 'actual' RP (and yes, when done right, there is a VERY big difference). So, either it needs to be clarified/focused a bit more, or a separate section needs be made.

Sounds like a great idea! I'm working on some ideas for RP player quests, and am looking to connect with other players who would be interested in helping me with some beta testing. I've done a couple of things before, and found some people through the forum, but I'm never sure quite where to post that will get the most traction.

Regarding the name- yes it sound like the simplest solution would be to add (Role-players Forum) to the title of the subforum to make it more obvious to the newly arrived.
