OK, confirmed... It IS a bug....

I crafted to Dyes and simply LOST my seed. According to description:
"Utilizing the Royal Elderberry to craft the dye will also bear a single seed which can be planted and grown into a bush, over and over, for all eternity."

    Here is what happened:

Please, give me back my seed and disable the recipe until this is fixed? Lol :/

Reproduction Rate: Tried twice (both seeds)
    Blocker? None
Details: Did not receive back the seed when crafting the dye. Also, plant is giving me 2 seeds.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Logged into multiplayer
    2. Harvested the tree (outside home)
    3. Crafted dye.

User Specs: I7-4th gen, 16GB ram, GTX 770.

As far as I can tell. I lost my Royal Elderberry seed, as well.
This was yesterday or possible late 8/28.

Reproduction Rate: Only once, not able to make another seed.
    Blocker? None
Details: I harvested the mature elderberry from my single plant pot and ONE item appeared in my inventory.
I then made a Royal Purple Dye. I no longer have a seed or plant.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Logged into multiplayer
    2. Harvested the tree (in small rusted greenhouse.)
    3. Crafted dye.

    OS: OS10 64 bit
    Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz
    Nvidea GeForce FTX 980

The dye must be used for the seed to be delivered. No bug.

Its not a bug, but its poor design. It makes royal dye impossible to sell, yet a crafter can dye as much clothing as they want and sell that. Whats the difference?

Since the dyes aren't tradable your not going to be able to sell them anyway.

@Attenwood can we get an official statement on account bound items? My understanding was that we'd be able to trade all items and when asked about the seeds in a previous post mortem @DarkStarr stated they should be tradable. It's a pain to have to take them to the bank as you can't store them in a chest as they're marked untradable.

Ok got it, will try as soon as possible. But here is a sugestion: you could make the elderberry tree acts just like the other eternal seeds. Saying: you harvest the fruit and then gets a seed at the same time, instead of after dyeing, it should make it easier to use, since you will be able to dye a whole set instead of 1 part at a time.

    Anyway, thanks for clarifying. @Attenwood

I agree that would be preferable. If you sufficiently water the plant though you'll return more than one fruit and after a few harvests you can multiply you crop considerably, I currently have twenty mature elderberry plants. Note that you can dye the same item repeatedly in order to return the seeds promptly.

As for being soulbound, now it makes some sense, since you would be selling the dye ALONG with the seed. Now, if they make it functions just as the other eternal trees, this restriction may be removed as well.

Oh, and btw... I find it weird being able to replicate the seed either. Thought it would be 1 per account, now if it gives twice for each plant, it is an exponential growth until it is just a more-than-common good (not really a pledge reward).

I think it would be better if the seed was returned when the dye is made, rather than when the dye is used.

That would make it easier to allow the dyes to be traded and/or sold without the worry of the true owner losing the seed in the process.

As it is now, in order to "sell" the dye, a buyer needs to trust you and hand over the item to be dyed, let you dye it, then return it to them. Assuming most people will only want to dye something once it's enchanted/mastercrafted to their liking... that item will be quite valuable and not something you would want to hand over freely without a guarantee of return.

I can't see any kind of business being made from them with these risks on the buyers part.

So, more than likely, this will be a reward that the owner will use a handful of times and then sit in the bank forever. :(
