[RP-Event] Chapter 2: The First Assault

The bird flew overhead and Boris noticed it was Snow with a message from Catherine. He extended his arm for Snow to land and placed her on his shoulder while he carefully took the message and read it. He took out a quill from his backpack and quickly wrote a brief letter.

"Catherine, I hope you are recovering and appreciate your help. I cannot wait two days and must go alone into the Fall. I have paid an assassin who knows the area to escort me to the entrance of the Fall. Do not accept any offering nor invitation to join Shimizu, Scoffer or Griffler until I return either dead or alive from this ordeal. Then you will know who to trust. I have left instructions with Razulah on what to do with my corpse if I die due to treachery which I suspect will happen. He has contingency plans and please advise your fleet to stay away from Rinzai waters as his orders upon my death are to torch the island. Only time will tell what the future holds for this pirate. R/Boris/El Pirata.

Boris tied the parchment to Snow's leg and sent the bird off on its return flight. He looked at the Novian sky as the time of chaos approached and so his impending doom. He knows at this moment the "Dragon" sails toward Rinzai and deep inside hopes that Armageddon can be avoided. If there was a way he could Shapeshift it would make this process easier.

 

Returning to Dysborg, Arkah decided to check for any possible places to rest relativly safely in the area. Luckily his research of the various ruins afforded him an edge over the Kobolds scattered there, which he recalled are more hostile than those living in their subteranean city.

Finding the entrance to the vault, Arkah made his way through the ancient tunnel, emerging into a much more recent system of tunnels constructed by the kobolds to give them safe routes throughout the world. Arkah remaine din the shadows and inched along the walls, hiding when a guard would poke its head around a corner on its patrol. Successfully avoiding detection, he made his way into the vast caverns of Skrekk.

It's no secret that Kobolds aren't fond of humans in thier territory. But the moral code of Kobolds being what it is, they always respect those brave enough to show thier face there. Arkah made his way tward King Korabar's Keep keeping an eye on the citizens scowling and barking "Sk'RRk" at him.
Once at the keep, the guardians remembered him and let him through. Arkah made his way up to the top floor untill he was face to face with the familiar King Korabar.

"Hello King Korabar! I've come to ask if i could stay in Skrekk." Arkah abruptly asked, cutting to the chase and attempting not to seem at all nervous.

"Sk'rrrk! You are indeed brave to show your face here again Human!" he said with an air of pride, and better spoken than other Kobolds. "As per our agreement, you Humans are to leave the mountains to us Kobolds, skrrrk! You will leave here at once!"
Arkah sighed and tipped his hat to the king, "As you wish, pardon my intrusion."

Arkah left the city the way he came in. He knew the tunnels of K'rawl were a network of powered tracks leading to many areas throughout northern Novia. He made his way as stealthily as he could, disabling a few automatons along the way to avoid detection, and eventually arriving at the kobolds dangerous underground research laboratory, K'rul.

Having snuck through the labrynth with no shortage of embrassing mishaps, Arkah was chased screeching out a large entrance on the far end from which he arrived, stopping himself short of a large cliff immediately outside the entrance. "uhhh...whoah. This isnt Norgard." he said, gawkign at the massive volcano suddenly before him. Just then he realized where he had been chased to. "Oh good lord" he said with an exasperated stroke of his face. "How'd i end up in Blood Bay"

(PS, anyone whos specialized in stealthing, K'rul is a freaking great place apparently to test your ability to sneak around)

 

The Black seagull appeared with a message and Boris knew it was from Razulah. He opened the message from the shadows reading it quickly.

"Captain, we sail towards Rinzai and should arrive there by late tomorrow, we stand ready and I sent a scout to follow you into the Fall. If you perish it will be his job to bring your body back for preparations and the obligatory ceremony before your cauldron."

Boris looked at that sunrise from the tall hill next to the entrance and wished for time to move faster. The anticipation of what is to come was far worse than any danger this forsaken place could hold. He saw many shadows pass him from his vantage point and knew assassins where gathering. The Obsidians had indeed laid a trap, he also noticed some that did not appear to be assassins but who was friend and who was foe in this eternal sunrise that could reveal his position from those shadowy figures.

 

On the docks in Rinzai Scoffer squinted towards the horizon and could barely make out the sails of the approaching ships. It seems that the rumours were true and the pirate Boris Mondragon was set on conquest.

"Why would they attack us my Lord? We are scholars, crafters and farmers, our town is full of literature, art and temples. Why would they attack?"
Scoffer took his gaze away from the horizon to look upon his servant. "I don't know Zat, but we will fight if we have to. I just hope the letter arrives in time to stop this madness"

 

Well it appears that I need to gather together all of our friends and prepare to defend the peaceful town of Rinzai, the way we did for Ardoris. We will stand beside those who are attacked that we call friend.

@Gaelis I know 4B has always been a friend. Who else will stand with those being attacked?

 

Lieutenant Razulah stood at the prow of the "Dragon" The messages came in continuously from fellow pirates. He read one after the other. "Rinzai is the rally point for all of Novia against the pirate fleet". He could hardly contain his laughter at the hypocrisy of these people. Armies, Allies, a multi-guild force or more like farce to combat one ship heading towards Rinzai as assurance their occupants and leadership did not use treachery against Captain Boris Mondragon. He sent the messages back to the pirate fleet. "One ship, one path, one truth. We blockade Rinzai harbor until Boris returns alive. We drop our Serenite Colors and are rogues as we should have been all along.". Razulah made sure one of these letters was sent to Scoffer on a black seagull.

 

"Daggumit. Dag nab burnin friggin" Arkah rampantly faux-cursed as he beat the side of the tree he was hiding against. He squinted to make out a small sailboat on the other side of a row of fancy decorative mansions. "These gaudy eyesores are deffinately Avatar homes. THIS SUCKS"

Having made his way mostly down the mountain in Blood bay, he carefully jackknifed from tree to rock making his way tward the shoreline, carefully keeping an eye on any activity int he outlander settlment that occupied it. "Ok. Ok." he cracked his neck and stretched a bit "Ok. GO" he wispered loudly as he ran DIRECTLY for the boat. Perhaps uneccisarily as noone was around. He lept from the shore and dove onto the tiny ship with enough force that he almost fell out of the boat as he fell backwards, knocking the mast over in the process.

Without a sail he began to drift without any attention as to where he would end up, and began studying the waters. He leaned over and studied the water closely. "I cant swim in this" he sighed. He kicked off a section of the fallen mast and began using it to row, what he thought, was southward.

Making landfall at the first mainland city he could se eint he distance, Arkah stood on the docks screaming "HELLOOOOOOO? AhoY! My boat is broken!" Searching for a place to fix "his" boat, among other things, he discovered @Sean Silverfoot

"Sean what are you doing here?!" Arkah was surprised when a female voice answered "Sean runs this town, what are YOU doing here?" Just then Sean looked up from his cooking station, "Boiling me undies." Realizing he might have barged in on laundry time, Arkah let him be, now realizing he was in Paxlair.

I never doubted my brother!

 

Sean Silverfoot finished reading the small parchment, he reloaded his Dragon Head pipe with some local mixture of herbs. "CUWE" he shouted "Send word to @Minerva that we prepare the PaxLair Guard to ride."

I must contact the others he thinks as takes another long pull on the pipe. Reaching over he opens a bottle of 25 year old Tenakill Reserve 420 liquor and pours it in a pewter cup. " This should be fun"

 

Shimizu watches with dismay as Scoffer, as if gripped in some sort of frenzy, snaps another quill in half and knocks the inkwell to the floor. The ink immediately begins to seep in to the hardwood floor. Frustrated, but knowing there's no use in trying to talk sense into Scoffer when he's in one of his moods, she climbs to the top of the lighthouse to watch the incoming ship. Pirate or no, Captain Boris had always been a fair trader. She sincerely hopes that this misunderstanding will not come to bloodshed.

Watching Scoffer's silhouette pace angrily back and forth in the twilight, she wonders. Has some sort of evil indeed infected him? Can he be trusted?
She heads back down to her pavilion just as the sun disappears behind the dunes. And locks the door. Just in case.

 

Side by Side we shall have fun, as in the past

 

@kaeshiva we do not want blood shed either. We hope that Boris is not coming to threaten the peace of the region. But, just as in Ardoris, we will stand with you.

 

"What are they building?" Arkah pulls out a lute and kicks his feet up

 

@EMPstrike we are hoping there is nothing, but if we need to build defenses and stand with Rinzai we shall. I am heading back to Ordinis Mortis to prepare. Will you join me?

 

"Defenses agaisnt what? Who did scoffer piss off? I can't help agaisnt alex, let em duke it out. you have any idea the stuff i just went through?" Arkah wildly makes assumptions while strumming his lute desperately trying to force out some well deserved R&R

 

The Pirate exited The Fall and Blood Bay bloodied but with Zaleena safe from harm. He sent a message to Razulah un the wings of the black seagull that awaited him.

"Razulah, stand down and head out towards Port Phoenix. I am alive, Zaleena is safe and she will warn the others of Aeddon and his powers. He is the one they must stop, my battle here is over and we head out to sea back where we belong. Beware of your course and if a ship approaches that does not bear the skull and bones then fire at will but leave Rinzai alone as their occupants did not betray me as I thought they would. We have all of Novia on our heels and I refuse to get Serenite involved in this mess. if they want some then they can come get some">





(P.S. quite a thrill to go into the Fall without a clue as to what is there. Time for others to continue the adventure.)

 

A letter reached Gaelis while she was working in PaxLair. She could not believe what she was reading. Minerva called friends to defend Rinzai.
She grabbed a sheet of paper and wrote to her friend:

Dear friend Minerva,
you can count on me anytime. I will tell the others as well what your asking for
and contact Sean and Winfield to let them know what happened.
Since Sean and Winfield are back from their meeting
PaxLair can prepare to stand side by side with friends as well.
Maybe we all can meet soon to talk what is needed to do next about all this threats
after Ardoris was attacked and Priestress and Shogun are dead.

"Snow, again fly swiftly with this message to Boris before darkness falls."

Boris,
there is a great evil cloud decending from the West . There is a darkness settling over our land pitting friend against friend, husband against wife and town against town. This should not be. We must become united not divided.

Please, quickly find the responsible one or ones and prevent this great war from going any further. Rinzai may have housed those who wish harm on our land of Novia and who have taken the dark side of the Obsidians as their leaders. However, we yet, do not know who is speaking the truth. We do know that just as the innocent avatars of Dragomir and Aerie, Alexandria and Aerie Centre Exchange were protected by you Boris, the Elegant Pirate, because the killing of the innocent in our towns by the Cabolist had to be stopped. You almost lost your life for those citizens. We did not bring our battle and cause death and destruction without knowing who the enemy was. We must prevent the destruction of Rinzai in the same way. We must know who the enemy is and why they have sent their evil ones and their monstrous creatures to cause death to all of Novia. If we cause the destruction of Rinzai not knowing who these evil ones are we will never be able to rid our land nor our seas of this death that is beginning to take hold and to blacken the sight of all of Novians. The evil ones are causing great division among our friends, our families and our cities.

I pray that as you go into this treacherous land of Blood Bay you are not wounded unto death but instead you are victorious in finding the truth of these evil ones and return so that we all in Novia will stand together and destroy the evil ones. We will then be able shout and rejoice in our peace that will return as well.
