I have been trying to recover some recipes via Carpentry Salvage Proficiency but I have not had any luck. I just raised my skill from 40 -80 to see if there is a difference in the chance. Does anyone know if you need a particular proficiency in order to get recipes? I don't want to raise it higher unless it is needed.

you cannot get recipes from salvage. you CAN get patterns, but only if the item you're salvaging has a pattern and not all of them do yet. at GM, chance of getting a pattern out of a load of something that has one is around 1%.

I've gotten other things from salvaging, such as Repair Deeds, Ingots, etc. Not sure what level is required to get these though.

I heard the chances of salvaging a pattern from an item are 1% @level 100 salvage proficiency. I am not sure how that curve looks before and after lvl 100, but i can offer my experience:

Training Blacksmith Salvage from 0 - 70 yielded 1 iron ingot and 1 Kobald Slag Sword Pattern beyond the normal scrap.

Thanks for the information. I leveled carpentry salvage to 80 and GMed carpentry via salvaging weapons from DR and I don't believe I received anything special. I have been trying to get the patterns for the Elven Woodwind Long Bow but no luck.

I'll sometimes get hilts and blades from blacksmithing salvage, even once a white iron ingot, but I've never gotten anything special from carpentry salvage except maybe some patterns.

I've gotten bowstaves a few times but only from crafted bows.

I think I've gotten ingots from carpentry, actually, from the hammers (that normally return scrap metal). It's exceedingly rare though. I get it more commonly from (the more rare o_O) blacksmith salvage. That said, my blacksmith skills are across-the-board better than my carpentry ones, so that's likely an influence.

Would make a bit sense if salvaging a item would let you learn how it was created (the recipie) after all.
