    @Sir Frank

I like that a lot, however I don't see Keeps and Castles in the add-on store yet. Do you know something we don't know? I remember the $2M stretch goal stated we would have keeps, and castles as a new town type. Do you have any info regarding that?

Unless I'm mistaken I believe the idea is to provide a context to base the size of the player towns off of: "This is the size of a holdfast in relation to the size of a castle lot".

    ----

While we are talking on comparisons :

From my gauging, the "Port Mirren" island town fits between "Town" and "City" in terms of size (49 lots at 54,000 square meters, provided I added them up properly Village:32,Town:11,City:5,Castle:1).

Based on the map that Winfield uses, "Valemark" fits between "Village" and "Crossroads Village" in terms of size (42 lots at 30,000 square meters, Village:34,Town:8)

Might give a better feeling for how large the maps for those various types of towns will be. :)

    That makes sense @NRaas

How about this though? (see $2M stretch goal)

I got that from the SotA Kickstarter Page itself. So it's valid.

Good question. Though it is possible they are actually referring to an earlier idea which eventually morphed into the player-town concept itself.

I mean back then the term "Keep" did not actually have any context, nor did "Castle". Those terms came to mean the size of lots only later on. :)

(Of course, maybe I'm wrong and Sir Frank does have insider knowledge ;) )

hopefully it didn't morph. A Kickstarter stretch goal shouldn't morph into something else. Castle and keep as a new player town type is pretty specific. I really believe they will follow through on that.

They will probably not be the exact size of the "Castle" or "Keep" lot then, since that would not provide any space around the lot to actually conduct a siege. :)

I don't know anything about settlements that you don't know.
After making the squares for each of the settlement sizes, I wanted some reference for how big the settlements actually were.
The castle lot seemed like a good reference.
The keep lot is included, because that's what I'll have.
City plot and below are not included, because I didn't feel they were needed for reference.

Mind if I borrow this to add to my graph Here? If so, do we know if these are going to be square? (Just so I know if my math is correct, lol)

Please use it any way you wish.
I have no idea if they're all going to be square, but it makes comparing them easier.
I would think setting up the scenes as a square would be the easiest way, though.

Oh, the castle and keep lots will be rectangles, and the dimensions are somewhere... But the settlements ought to be square.

I think its the proverbial "banana provided for scale".

The rectangles provided are proportionate to the number of square meters provided for each.
The sum of the lots of a Holdfast will be 12,600 square meters. I find it highly unlikely that the lots will be in a perfect rectangle. That would make it difficult for the people living in the center to get to their properties.

Proportionate to the square meters of claimable plot space. There's got to be a ton of road, green space, and NPC area, and I think they are including more plots than can be claimed.

It needs to be cleaned up still, but for the time being this should give everyone an idea of how lot sizes scale.
Thanks again to Sir Frank for letting me rework his OP!
I'll post a prettier version in the next day or so.

Your holdfast is missing 1 village lot. 1 castle and 5 village lots per the add-on store page, other than that it is great.
