    ...no fireplace or even a pot-belly stove inside. Great observation. Personally, I think the chimney could be removed.

    ........but our poor little avatar would get cold.......... :)

    Yes - removing it would be easier as there's not a lot of room inside at the moment and adding a fireplace of some sort would make that even worse
