Signature Songs for Main Cities

I think it will go a long way for immersion if each of the major cities such as Brittany/Ardoris etc each had their own special music so the cities have more character and feel unique. They each look very different and are beautiful in design but the world feels a little bland because the sound track remains generally generic while travelling around the world.

I would love it if when I stepped into a new big city I was greeted with a unique majestic soundtrack specific to that city.

 

Counts pretty much for all sound tracks.

It was nice that the community helped out a couple of years ago with quite a lot of tracks, but let's face it, most of them are not really top quality.

I turn music "off" since i can't hear the same tracks over and over again.
The tracks should also switch to something more dramatic if i am in combat mode.

But high quality tracks are quite expensive, so that's out of the box atm.

 

One thing that Ultima IX did very well, and UO to a lesser extent, was having definitive audio tracks for each of the main cities. Ultima IX had two variations of each as well, one for while it was corrupted and one once you had released it from the Guardian's influence. This would work well for the main cities here as well, before and after you complete their respective Paths of Truth, Love, Courage, and the Oracle.

 

what about a signature audio option for POTs?

POT owners can commission their own music and submit it to be included. Several have already done so. In that case, you would receive it as a wax cylinder that you can load into the broadcast amplifier, to play for all players in your town.

 

How would this work, @Browncoat Jayson? How would the song be submitted? In what format? To whom?

Dara Brae has our signature song, Yew Tree of Dara Brae. It is one of the three songs you can hear.

Interesting, I might just give a try at composing some POT town themes, that’s more appropriate for the game (I write more electronic stuff). Doing something with more traditional instruments. When I have some free time that is....

 

Interesting, I never heard of this possibility and now I see it is feasible since 2015…...every day you can learn something new about SotA.

 

We were able as mentioned to get our own song for our player owned towns. These had to be approved. Wizards Rest had one specially made from our feedback to be a Harry Potter theme type of song. It was created by i believe Dinso and approved and added to the game. I had thought it would be only heard in Wizards Rest but since then that seems to have fallen through. I am not in game to say song information and creator to be 100 percent. I will verify later. I like the OP idea too.
