...that "Market Stall Merchants in most towns" actually means just Etceter.

As with all the other seeds, they are scattered around with seemingly no logic whatsoever. Etceter has all 3, but the NPCs are unavailable about 1/3 of the time due to "schedules" so I looked elsewhere. Found barley/hops in resolute, but no grapes. Didn't find them in Brittany at all, at the gajillion market stalls - guess it would have been to easy to have cask recipes and veggies in same town.... I spent a good hour the other day finding the secret town where coconut tree seeds were, since they are inexplicably unavailable in brittany or kiln or the next few places I checked.....

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS MADNESS
Can we please just get all the seeds on the pot merchant? All this running around is not productive, or adding anything to the game, except frustration. Even farmer NPCs -in the same town- have different inventories.

I second this. To whoever thought it's a funny little quest to run around and look for recipes and ingredients: It is not. It steals your players' precious time without giving them enjoyment in return. Stop it.

That's great and all... but there is nothing in the lore of the game that gives a reason for ANYTHING to be regional, other than the apparently random placement decisions.
    Not for beer ingredients...
    Not for tree types...
    Not for ore types...
    Not for reagents...

If there were regional economies, then there would be reasons for these things. Reasons you could discover through discussion with NPCs and research via reading the in-game books. Then there would also be the FACT that a particularly high demand item (which all of the above ARE) would be worth MORE to the right PEOPLE in the game world, not just other players, if only by a gp or two. But for now, regional economies is just another phrase for something that sounded cool, but they either haven't thought it through, or never allocated the manpower to figure it out and implement it, because gods know they've had the time.

Try the building left of the default entrance to Brittany Estates for grapes, there are merchants inside.

I was looking for barley and hops (not the seeds) so that I could get some casks going and spent like two hours looking for those ingredients. I only found them in Etceter at very inflated prices.

Ah, I see. I found barley seeds the first seed vendor I checked. No idea if they were selling actual barley.

The demand pricing system doesn't kick in often, but when it does, it hurts.

When your liquor is ready, and you empty the casks, are they reuseable? Or at least remain around as deco?

Yea, I agree, some decisions on making things regional feel arbitrary, and that leads to a problem with hunting down the ingredients because you don't even know where to look. If as a player you had a reason to look in a certain place for an ingredient, so knew where to go, that would be great.

However, I don't think giving players a reason to visit a certain region is a bad thing, either.

By the way, you always had this sort of thing in the Ultima games. You would have to visit Moonglow to get certain reagents or certain spells, Yew for others. They always worked that way.

Also, if we were better mechanics in game to set up a player economy, we could do the work the game that doesn't do in distributing these. Getting ingredients from Etceter, and selling them at our vendor in Brittany at higher prices. Currently, I think there are a number of issues in game that make this difficult and unappealing to do.

I'm pretty sure they're reusable. They better be! I don't want to craft a cask everytime i need to brew.

Ok, I have the dumbest question ever. Where do you get a wooden barrel?

Unfortunately, you have to craft it or find a player vendor vendor that sells them.
