Here is a list of what effects of each type of material used in crafting. There have likely been changes I have not caught. I have been working on this since R26. I filled in some of the gaps in my research by consulting sotacraft.com

Long in expressing my concerns about the balance and consistency of crafting material stats I have been told the numbers are placeholders. However the time approaches when our characters will be persistent and the results of our time and efforts in the game will be lasting. At that time we can rightfully expect a measure of consistency and balance in what our efforts produce while crafting. By looking at the overall big picture of what materials do it should be no problem to come up with a materials specifications chart that makes sense. Materials that require more components to create should give higher benefits than simpler material. Reviewing the list below quickly reveals that this is not always the case.
It is my hope the list below will help the development team to quickly identify those items in need of correction and assist them in creating a truly worthwhile materials system.

Personally I'd like to see stat values more like this, just my 2 cents. This would give you a little under 50% crit with the best gear in the game, before str/dex/int values, obviously may need to lower values depending on gm passive totals, etc. It would give more reason for a mage to wear cloth over chain or leather and visa versa. If you want to run a hybrid you'd need to mix and match armor. This would also reward you for farming rare materials (tin, nickel, etc) Without adjusting recipes you'd get the following values for sets if using the best materials (Carapacian, Supple Leather, Constantan, etc).

Full Epic Cloth = 27.5% Focus, 27.5% Spell Critical Chance
Full Epic Leather = 27.5% Avoidance, 28.5% Weapon Critical Chance 1% Health (Bindings)
Full Epic Plate = 28% Health, 30% Weapon Critical Chance 2% Avoidance (Straps)

Staff = 20% Spell Critical Chance, 20% Spell Critical Damage
2H Weapon = 20% Weapon Critical Chance, 20% Weapon Critical Damage
Bow = 20% Weapon Critical Chance, 20% Weapon Critical Damage

    Armor Strap
Carapacian 0.5% Focus, 0.5% Spell Critical Chance
    Cotton 0.5% Focus
Fustian 0.5% Focus, 0.5% Spell Damage
Hard Leather 0.5% Avoidance, 0.5% Weapon Damage
    Leather 0.5% Avoidance
Supple Leather 0.5% Avoidance, 0.5% Weapon Critial Chance

I agree that many/most of the material stats are under-powered. I think +0.1 of anything is pretty worthless.

My bronze armor set, copper and bronze sword, and GM'd crit skills put me just over 25% melee crit chance which I'd say is about what it should be.

I want to say with everything added up (armor, dex, sword, crit skills) I'm at 31.2% crit.

Looking at the chart I can say that some of these numbers are no longer correct. All the the Heartwoods, for instance, at least in regards to staffs, give -20% BMRC now(sans regular maple, which I haven't done yet).

In addition to the -20% that all heartwoods give, they also give the following:

Rock Maple- +15% Spell Critical Damage

    Hard Maple- +.1 Damage Resistance

    Crimson Pine- +10% Focus

    Grey Pine- +2% Damage Avoidance

For Carapacian straps, using 2, I got .3 SCC and 2 leather straps gave .3 CDM.

I've made all of these within the last month or so if you would like to use them to update your chart @Xander Xavier .
Anyway, hope some of this helps with your compilation of material bonuses! (^8

Good stuff! I think we should move this to player created resource section, though.

does any one have stats on mace/hammers. Trying to figure out the best for those. Something that doesnt cause so much spell fizzle.
Made a couple copper and bronze...i think the handle is what caused the fizzle chance being so high.
