I was just walking along the Solania Catacombs and I made a discovery of a hidden passage, that I did not know was there! ...

Sadly though, I only discovered it because of the map thats open, the sotamap.com map... . and I was thinking, doesn't that go against the game play?

How did my character know there was a secret lever ? I could understand if I had bought a map and seen the hidden passage on the map in game, then the in game sotamap would show it, that makes sense... or If I had found it previously, that makes sense too, ..

But having the sotamap.com map show me hidden stuff in the catacombs and dungeons doesn't feel right?

That definitely bothered me when I was showing a new player the Soltown Sewers and I was showing them the cool feature of hidden doors.
I got "I know, I can see it on the map". That bothered me a lot. You at least need to hide hidden passages until they have been discovered. As someone who is very good at finding secrets, it makes me feel like that skill is useless.

Mental note. Go to all the sewers and catacombs before this is fixed.

It's not really that hard to find the sewer ones. Look for weird arches and tilted torches.

    It won't be fixed.
The map is an external tool included into the game.
Port can as do as much about what is on the map as sotamap can do to hide things you haven't discovred so far: nothing.

Interesting. Then we should get an official map instead of using someone else's map which breaks immersion in the game.
(And lags like crazy if you accidently hit M)

Yea, one of the drawback's of SotA map is that it takes away from the discovery factor. The solution, sadly, is to not use it, until you think you've completely explored an area on your own :-/

    Compromises must be made.
