With the sheer amount and the speed those pages are created are there not more measures possible?

e.g. I see newly created Users creating new pages only a minute after they joined - is there no grace period possible where a User is only allowed to edit his own userpage and perhaps some tryout/welcomepage and only after an hour receive the right to create or edit pages of the WIKI?

Is confirmation of a valid e-mailadress not part of the process to register for the WIKI prior to editing any pages?

 

White listing domains that can be included in the content would help but requires an admin to setup.

 

The first step should be, that only registered and trusty user can insert or change anything on the wiki. The question is, who has admin on the wiki and change that?

 

these users ARE registering. one cannot make a new page without that, currently

 

I tried to validate my mailadress in the wiki, but I do not receive the mail to validate it.

there appears a text that is not visible in the editing page, probably a variable linked in.

How would I get the "mose" changed to "most" if that text is not shown on the editing page?

 

So I did a search for "mose" and clicked the everything link, that brought up the Template:Row House template and I fixed the typo there, it took a few refreshes of the initial page before the changes displayed for me.

 

In the guilds list are several guilds with 0 members listed. Is not the rule that guilds who lose their last member are dissolved and cease to exist?

states that giving an e-mail-adress and a real name are both optional. So anyone can create as many accounts as he can imagine different account names. No threshold there to stop spammers.

After having registered and if you have voluntarily chosen to give an e-mail-adress, then you can request a confirmation mail to verify your mail in the preferences:

Problem: I did request a confirmation mail twice already, waiting a fortnight between both requests, and did not receive anything. Yes, I did check my spam folder.
I had a similar problem with the site sorcerers.net and the admin of that site could successfully contact my ISP, the german telekom, as they had blocked his domain for having sent too many mails at one point towards them.

Suggestion: The current registering process is no barrier for spammers. Entering a mailadress should be optional only for "read-only" accounts and anyone who would want to change or especially create new pages the WIKI should be required to give an e-mail-adress. And, once the verification of mails works without problems, a verified mail should be required to created new pages.

 

Just made my first SOTAwiki contributions!

I created a page on Avatar movement: Understanding The Avatar's Movement Stats
Links to the above page where placed on these pages: Move Rate & Move Speed
I also created a page titled Avatar Movement (it currently links to the page above, but this redundant page can be deleted, but I cannot figure how to delete the page).

I also edited the belt of the ox pages to more accurately describe the artifact & its stats. Some math on how the stats apply is not consistent, making a description of the stats more difficult.

I ain't too good with the language used to make the pages, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

 

Also just updated these two pages to give more detailed explanation of Damage Resistance and Damage Avoidance.
And added the numerical data on how blade spec effects Coup de Grace.
Also updated all the Ring of Frogkin pages to include missing stats, and some important info comparing the buffs on the imbued jewel of frogkin versus an epic ring.

Redid these 2 pages to explain these stats in more detail: Encumbrance & Encumbrance Capacity.

Oi! there are tons of spam pages (search for "weight" and you'll see a bunch of them).
...how do we delete pages?

 

Fixed some errors, and added tables showing how earth spec effects Knockdown time for Earthquake, and how it effects Stun duration for Stone fist.
Also, added Earth spec effects on Torpor to the Torpor page, and to Earth Spec Page.

 

I can confirm this is true...bone armor can only be crafted with standard cotton thread (and not with carapacian thread or fustian thread).
I have edited the following pages to make this clear: Bone Armor, Bone Chest, Bone Leggings, Bone Helm, Bone Gauntlets, Bone Boots

 

Speaking of Damage Avoidance, it's annoying that SotAwiki shows, for example: "Damage Avoidance: 2", when examing the item in-game shows "Damage Avoidance: 2%". I think this discrepancy should be corrected.

If one adds the percent sign explicitly, one gets an error message. I'm tempted to specifiy the Damage Avoidance as 0.02, which is exact and correct, but undoubtedly confusing.

The real solution, of course, would be to edit Template: Infobox Item. Who has access to do this?

 

I was able to use % signs in the wiki without any issue, including within the infobox (although so far i have not changed a Damage Avoidance stat).
Which Wiki page (or pages) were you editing?
I can take a look and see if I can help resolve to the issue.

 

Take a look at any piece of Acara's Plate Armor you happen to have available.

I guess I could mis-categorize Damage Avoidance as an Item Effect (bonus) and specify |btype1=%, but I am not aware of any corresponding modifier for |davoidance.

 

Now I understand the issue better. Yep, in that part of the page, changing avoidance to show the % sign would indeed require a change to the infobox definitions. Even if there was a way to change it on a per page basis, it would be very time consuming to change that to a % on every page.

I have no idea if any of the founders & staff of SotaWiki are involved in the project anymore. In the recent past, posts in this thread have rarely gotten a response from the staff (the most recent response I can see was Nov 2024 by @Browncoat Jayson). I think staff would have the ability to change the infobox definitions.

Incidentally, this reminded me of a "bug" that still exists: the avoid stat seems to be a % (and shows as a % when you hover over an armor item); but the paper doll & glyphs do not show avoidance as a % (which may have led to it not being listed as a percent in the wiki) - bug just reported here.

 

The good news is that the fix is trivial: just insert one percent sign in Template:Infobox Item. The bad news is that one must edit Template:Infobox Item, (which I, for one, am not allowed to do), or replace it.

So I replaced it, (on one page only, as proof of concept). I copied the source of Template:Infobox Item, inserted the percent sign, and saved it as Template:Infobox Avoidance. (Well, "Template:Infobox Ausgen" seemed a bit...). I used this new template on the page Augmented Iron Plate Boots. (This seemed a safe choice because the page is obsolete). Sure enough, it now shows Damage Avoidance: 1%.

Speaking of page Augmented Iron Plate Boots, I marked it obsolete after verifying that Merchant Theo sells no such item. I would guess Augmented Iron Plate Boots were removed from the game. How would one verify that?

An alternative would be to examine the item in-game, take a screenshot of the item with its in-game statistics, and replace each generic icon with the (cropped) screenshot. And to hell with Infobox whatever.

Of course, making the fix everywhere it's needed would be a lot of work. Still, replacing templates we cannot fix might be necessary, in the long run?

 

I corrected & updated all of the artifact attunement ring pages (Air, fire, Earth, life, etc),
and included details on the allowable modifications to these rings (such as socketing, enchanting, etc.).
For an example of the corrections & additional info, see Ring of Air.

I also corrected/updated all the Ring of the Mouse pages
and spruced up the entire Earth magic tree, including, Earth Attunement, Earth Resistance, and all the glyphs.
