If you haven't checked it out already here is the "Where is what and how do I get there" part 1.
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/f...et-there-spoilers-maps-and-directions.111124/
    .
    .
Here is part 2 for those who want detailed spoilers but also the inner workings of some commands etc.
    Warning! SPOILERS Warning!
If you are one of those that don't want to open the curtains and find a mediocre charlatan there instead of a powerful wizard then you might not want to pursue the information below. Also if you are old enough to understand that reference then you might not want the world on a platter and prefer that pencil and math paper instead...

For the lazy or the virtue-ally challenged (pun) then lets steam ahead.
    .
    .

So you know where you are and you want to invite the world to check out that cool spot.

Or you want to set up that special date between yourself and your next victim antagonist.

Or you have a lot and want the world to find that for your next event or social gathering?

Or you against all odds found a bug and want to report the location so that the pest controllers can descend upon it.

Or you might wonder how many cubits on the side the palace in Brittany Castle is?

    Then this is for you.

So these are chat commands, for a more complete list please find this really useful reference sheet, some are outdated but it so beautiful it doesn't matter.

To get the exact location, then in chat write
    /loc
    This will do two things:
    1) In chat you will get an output of the scene name and your exact location.
    2) It will put this into your clipboard, so you can paste it into something else, like a forum post.

To have a running count of the loc information above, then in chat write
    /loctrack
This will put a line in the top left corner just below the SOTA line with a running location information.
You can turn this off by repeating the command.

    Notes

    • Note that it is in XZY order, so height is the first value.
    • Please note that mostly the XZY correlates to West-East Up-Down North-South but it doesn't necessarily have to , some maps are slightly off, some are rotatated, some are mirrored etc and that it can change from scene to scene.
    .

    So you have used the
    /loc
    or
    /loctrack
to get the positions. But how to calculate the distance between the points?

Remember that the values are XZY so you might want to switch to make sense of them, or leave the Z out of it.

Regardless here you have some calculators that might help.

    Distance between two 2d points
    https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-plane/distance-two-points.php

    Distance between two 3d points
    https://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/geometry-solids/distance-two-points.php

Note that the above can be done on the overland map as well. Where you could take several distances and add them up to get a total travel distance.
For instanace Ardoris>Soltown>Solace Bridge or something.

OK as all cartographers know pythagoras theorem can let you calculate distances you can't cross. It is the one going A So we should have that one as well.
    https://ncalculators.com/number-conversion/pythagoras-theorem.htm

Now if you are good enough at math and trigonometry given the above you can even calculate that angle+distance=height thingie.
(Here is a vid if you want the rundown).

    .

    Go to the game map
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/map/

Zoom browse etc to the location you want to link to, for instance lets say Soltown
    [IMG]
Click the label to get the pop up
Click the Share to get a link address

Copy the link and paste it where you want it
If someone clicks it they will go directly there:

    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/map//?map_id=1&poi_id=607&openPopup=true&z=4

But lets say we want to give directions in the scene as well.

Click the label to get the pop up
Click the Scene Name Header to open the scene map.
Then in the scene map click the Point-of-Interest
    Then click share,
    [IMG]
Copy the link and paste it.
For example here is the Town Crier.
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/map//?map_id=3&poi_id=1028&openPopup=true&z=5

This also works for player lots.
Click it as a POI and Share.
So this is the link to Spoon's lot in Soltown:
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/map//?map_id=3&lot_id=91&openPopup=true&z=5

Well, right now the map is not set and what we will be allowed to do to it is not set.

However, if you want to make maps for your own use, then you can create a login, then login to the map, turn Edit:ON.
then you can place your own markers.

    Like so:
That way you can make your own notes or such, which are visible only to your account. (Yes a typo in the pic I'm afraid).

However doing that you can create your own layer on top of the map where you can mark out POI or paths or locations for your own purposes.

Like a roleplaying aid where you invite some to a specific part of a scene where something could happen.

As soon as we get Edit POI and update functions back on maps, I will add this here.

You are right, corrected above. Thank you.

Funny that I'd consistently write the wrong thing even though I've cursed the silly order of it so many times. And that I just made the loctrack to see which was which but still my wishful thinking wanted it in some order that made at least some sense.
