My primary play comes under my Steam account (because Steam knows how to keep a game updated). When Im playing the Steam version and log into my other account using the normal launcher I will get the "cant update game because its already running" error. Since the 2 different executables are in 2 different folders they should not conflict with each other during an update.

You don't need the normal launcher if you already have steam client running. Just load up the steam version, right click at SotA icon on the task bar and open another client from there. Save yourself some hard drive space.
