Steam now lets you remove games from your account

Looks like Steam now allows you to permanently remove games from your account.

Can anyone comment on how that would affect account binding between SotA website and Steam?

 

nice! Thanks for info. I let someone use one of my accounts and they registered it with steam under their name.

 

Let us know what happens if they try to "permanently remove it" what happens on the account page etc.

 

This does not change our policy. It is also worth noting that if you do this you will not be able to play on Steam ever again with that account.

 

I wonder what would happen if you bought another copy directly from Steam? What if you created a new SotA account and tried rebinding? So many test scenarios...

 

So people trading accounts now also need to know if it has been linked to steam earlier?

if you have the money, I say go for it (hides from the smiting of the devs for any headaches this will cause them).

 

I'll wait until it's discounted. It's too expensive right now on Steam.

 

Glad I checked back here first. In light of what has been said, and because my friend has interest in this game anyway, I will just persuade him to purchase it from me.

 

So I did unlink SOTA from Steam, and purchased a new Adventurer Pledge from Steam directly. I cannot log into the forums or website with my new Adventurer Pledge.. my attempt is talked about in this thread here:

I cannot access my new account in the game in any way. Help! I've submitted a support email already.. I suppose I just have to try to be patient

 

FYI - If some un-links their game from steam and attempts to sell their account to you - they can still reclaim their forum account and change the password and lock you out using their steam credentials.

All un-linking means is they can no longer play the game through steam. But they will always have access to the forum account regardless which allows them to change their password back.

 

This needs to be reported as a potential scam method. Either a fix or a big notice on potential account sales needs to be put in place.

 

Portalarium's stance is it does not condone account trades (just pledge trades @ 25$ per move) and that pledge and steam cannot be uncoupled. Up until we go final-wipe I'll still be in the marketplace anyways helping folks navigate these issues.

After disconnecting the game via steam.

Just goes to show you can always take the game out of steam, but not the steam out of the game.
