[Resolved 69644] Path of Oracle broken (Shroud Quest)

    1. Title path of Oracle broken (Shroud Quest)
    2. Reproducible? Yes, check central britany, midras vault, libras vault
    3. Blocker? Yes, unable to complete main quest
    4. Details: have the quest from the oracle to get the pages, the chest where the pages should spawn just has generic loot. the pages dont spawn and when i click on the chest a second time it says i already have the item that would be found here. the quest status for each page doesnt update and i dont have the pages in my inventory.
    5. Steps to Reproduce: complete the path quests, talk to oracle, get the page quest visit the location where the pages should be.
    6. User Specs: (RAM, CPU, GPU and Operating System only) 32gig, AMD threadripper. AMD GPU. Win 10)

    @bitwise Check the cog wheel menu for your inventory and. and sure you don’t have quest items hidden?

    @Echondas no in my inventory i am not hiding anything. i can see all of my other quest items and in the journal none of the page quests have updated. I went back one of the locations and opened the chest and it had only 3 items, none of which are a quest item.

    Are you in a party with other people or by yourself?

    Is this happening with a new character, or are you returning from a long while ago?

    i was solo and a returning player had about a three year walkabout, i had completed the path of truth before i left. i just completed this weekend the path of Love and courage. i have the items from the path quests in my inventory, and got the quests from the oracle. Thank you for your help!

    i just talked to the oracle in POT and got the tears of Sorrow, going back to Brittany to see if that fixed it.

    EDIT... nope, checked central Britany and the Midras still not providing the pages

    Ok so you are trying to do the find the pages quests with a 3 year old character? Just to be clear.

    this character is old, and i had a long break over around 3 years after I completed the path of truth. I just started the Path of the Oracle part of the quest and need to acquire the pages that are not showing up in the chests

    @bitwise , sorry you're having these troubles. Added as issue #69644

    Sometimes this kind of thing happens when players are skipping steps, maybe because they're following an outdated walkthrough. If you're following another player's walkthrough, I'd suggest putting it aside and see if your tasks and journal entries are better, especially because they may have been updated over the years.

    Speaking of updated quests, this kind of thing can also happen when old characters are dusted off and try to pick up where they left off. Although we try very hard to make sure updates still allow these old characters to not get stuck, sometimes it happens. It's possible you're quest flags aren't what they should be and that's what's blocking you.

    But I suspect something's off with how the quest items are being offered, because you got some of the items in the set but not all. I guess I'll see when I'm able to poke into this issue.

    @bitwise , I checked into your character and you're not on the proper stage to collect the pages. You need to return to the Oracle Temple in Central Brittany and say "not yet done" to the Oracle there. When you do, you'll get additional tasks and be able to collect the pages.

    You're not the first person to leave the Oracle Temple before getting all the tasks and quest flags. I don't know why the page tasks were given first and the quest flag that allows you to collect those pages are in a different response. It's terrible because it allows players to accidentally block their quest as you have done. However, I'm making a change so that the tasks to collect the pages are in that "last" response and no one will be able to block themselves again.

    Sorry you got caught by this accidental "trap," but once you say "not yet done" to that Oracle you'll be back on track!
