[Submitted 72918] Items that give "Poison Effectiveness Bonus" don't work for all poisons

    i have the Poison Weapon skill trained to 100.

    I equipped 2 Shard of Night daggers, each of which gives +50% Poison Effectiveness Bonus.
    Then I applied various poisons to the weapon, and attacked a training dummy.

    Then I compared these same poisons using rusty sword.

    Comparing the attacks with and without Poison Effectiveness Bonus, I noticed no difference in any of the following:
    • the duration that the poison lasted on my weapon
    • the poison damage inflicted on the training dummy
    • the duration of the damage-over-time (if the poison applied a DOT).
    • the power and duration debuffs that may be applied by some poisons (e.g. healing modifier).
    I also tried with a few other items that increase Poison Effectiveness, such as Daemon Trident.

    So, essentially, the Poison Effectiveness bonus appears to do nothing.

    Is this a bug, or am i missing something?

    Is the dummy perhaps poison resistant? After all there are several skills that can not be trained on dummies, e.g. pickpocket and some of the charge skills...?

    The poison debuff does show on the training dummy, including the amount of damage over time, and the damage ticks off on the dummy (so its not resistant or immune). The Poison effectiveness bonus should also show. Anyhow, i also tested on some creatures...and the poison effectiveness bonus was not applied on creatures either.

    Verified -- I saw no difference on actual mobs with / without a shard of night equipped; poison DOT damage and duration was the same, as was the poison application buff.

    cannot replicate. the mousover on a bottle of corpion poison in my inventory says 10-21 damage. i equip a shard of night and it says 15-32. this also shows in combat: i poisoned my normal sword and then switched to the shard of night and saw the hits increase.

    those numbers are well below the stated range; i suspect the dummy is resistant to direct poison damage and possibly immune to poison dots, but corpion poison doesn't have a dot.

    Thanks Alley & Echondas. i went back and did some add'l testing...
    Perhaps the training dummy does have some weird poison DOT resistance that does not show in the debuff icon stat...however:
    It looks like the Poison Effectiveness Bonus is not applied specifically for the "Poison Potion" even on creatures (in my prior tests, I used mainly poison potion).
    The bonus does not change the damage over time, duration on the creature, nor duration on my weapon (2H sword versus 2 shards of night).
    This is true whether I use the poison on a training dummy or on a creature.
    The top pic: I have 2H sword equipped and tooltip on Poison poison shows 3-7 damage.
    The bottom pic: I have 2 shards of night equipped and tooltip on Poison potion still shows 3-7 damage (and the rest of the poison stats are also unchanged).
    The combat logs supported the 3-7 damage rate shown on the tool tips (see combat logs below the pics)

    This is excerpt from combat logs when I had 2 shard of night equipped and used "Poison Potion" (if the 100% bonus i get from 2 shards of night was being applied, I should get 6-14 damage, but the logs are consistent with 3-7 damage instead).

    out of the eleven poisons, a shard of night is not giving a bonus to only two poisons: the OG poison potion and the chaotic corruption one.
