Since I made this post elsewhere I thought I'd get some kind of closure with this suggestion of how I'd do a merchant/crafter theme.

    • $10K: /haggle emote
(teachable but not re-teachable, this so that the partakers are rewarded but that the emote can spread in use to other players)
    • $20K: (Virtue) Crafting Apron
(The concept here is to create one 'rare' Virtue version with the virtue symbol, but then re-use the object with a reskin to add it to the game in general as Plain Crafting Apron - without the pockets and belt - that way you get two good things for the effort of making one.
The secondary point of that is also to make a positive spin to those who cannot afford to spend in that telethon but would still get a vested interest in the outcome - which could translate to them maybe spending in an upcoming telethon.)
    • $35K: Paper Recipe: Decorative Planter (non-teachable)
(The concept with giving the reward as a paper recipe is so that one can trade the recipe away if one isn't a crafter, the concept of creating it as a recipe instead of an item is to transfer the 'rare' value from the item to the ability to craft the object, that way the 'rare' feel is kept but the object can be spread to many many more players through crafting and selling the items
The secondary point of that is also to make a positive spin to those who cannot afford to spend in that telethon but would still get a vested interest in the outcome - which could translate to them maybe spending in an upcoming telethon.)
    • $50K: Paper Recipe: Elaborate Classic Counter/Stall (non-teachable)
(The concept with giving the reward as a paper recipe is so that one can trade the recipe away if one isn't a crafter, the concept of creating it as a recipe instead of an item is to transfer the 'rare' value from the item to the ability to craft the object, that way the 'rare' feel is kept but the object can be spread to many many more players through crafting and selling the items
The secondary point of that is also to make a positive spin to those who cannot afford to spend in that telethon but would still get a vested interest in the outcome - which could translate to them maybe spending in an upcoming telethon.)
    • $65K: Replenishing Scraps Box (Once per week this item generates a dozen random scraps materials - wood, metal, cloth, leather scraps)
    • $80K: Small Virtue Caravan (Deco object, with 'outdoors' and 'pot' flags)
This one is just meant to be cool. If you are a player you can jump into it and stand there selling stuff. While if on a lot and you want to one can place a Vendor next to it which then looks instantly properly like a travelling trader.

I mean - I'd be spending extra if those where the stretchgoals.

    EDIT
With the new pattern system for our vendors - wouldn't it be really cool with a unique telethon vendor outfit?

So we did get the @DarkStarr theme and it raised a lot of interest.

Here is to hope that a coming up telethon will be some sort of crafter/merchant theme. Since that seems most popular with the players voting here.

Added some suggestions in the OP for that one:

    Pirate/Sailor/Fisher
Think eyepatch, parrot, striped shirts, flamboyant hats, equipable small chests, hooks in offhand, jolly roger banner, fishing hat, tackle box, "the one that got away"-decoration (a plaque with a reaaaaaaaallllyyyyy long measure but no fish), Fishing Fountain (that allows fisihing in).

Let me know if I missed something obvious.

    Blood, blood, blood.

And maybe 10% of proceeds goes to the Red Cross.

I'd guesstimate that that one is mostly reserved due to the Charity thingie.
But it is worth a shot.

Why would we still be doing telethons after launch?

Let me answer with a question.
Are there any good reasons not to?

I mean as long as they prove popular with the general audience of the game there is no reason why you'd want to stop doing something which your players' appreciate.

Now mind you, even if they skip the telethon part - and really were just reduced to live monthly sales with some unique objects to buy - that would still be popular with the player base.

So don't get too hung up on the terminology/word itself.

I don't much care about the themes, but there are a couple of Stretch Goals that I would like to see, that would be appropriate for the Spring Season:
    • Leaf Armor to go with last Spring's Leaf Spear and Shield
    • A Yellow Rain Slicker, Hat, and Boots... Because:

I'd like too see a lamp in game, and other rewards perhaps, for every school of magic... so that's why I chose Air/Wind. Although a Spring theme would make sense, too.

Pirate stuff needs to go in a pirate/bandit bundle, I suggested more items here, in this thread.

Merchant stuff should be for everyone ;)

They are not mutually exclusive. Quite the opposite if done correctly.

If you check my suggestion post above you can see that I think the same but having the telethon as the excuse for devs to take the time.
    https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?posts/939408/
So for instance a fancy Virtue Apron, and when doing that asset, an ordinary Craftable Apron at the same time.
That adds both an incentive for spending but also for the non-spenders to cheer them on.
Similar with the decorative pot planter recipe etc.

    Greetings sire.
That would be the very first option in the poll.
Its the "Bah humbug" option, feel free to use it.

    Happy hunting
