Hearing about Castle seiges spawned an idea in my head.

What if there was a castle to be seiged and fought over in a PvP Zone that allows player housing. Whoever "controls the POT" at noon each day collects a portion of the lot tax revenue. Maybe something like 1% of all lot tax for the day. These scenes would not allow Tax-Free deeds, as the coin should be diverted from the drain. Shouldn't be generating coin from a pot full of tax-free deeds. Make these scenes worth visiting with rare resources and good npc vendors. Make it a place people want to live in, to visit and adventure in, and give them a reason to fight over a portion of it (the castle) and you'll get people competing in no time.

Nice PvP idea but like all other PvP ideas will last about a week then be run of the mill.

From the beginning PvPer have said they do not need incentives just good PvP content then at every turn ask for things like this that reward them for controlling things , places , etc,

Developers have stated over and over that there would be not anything a non PvP person would feel the need to go in three and get yet it appears that more and more development time is being dedicated directly to nothing but PvP rewards.

So keep pushing, might get them over the edge soon enough.

But I will bet dollars to doughnotz that Blood Bay will become exactly what Bucs Den was like and all the "whinning" will begin again to try and lure sheep to the wolves.

They created shard falls over and over and gave them "Incentives" nothing worked.

The ONLY reason PvP people are in Blood Bay ATM is the housing, once all are taken watch it drop like a stone.

They have already discussed something like this as an idea and even Capture the flag stuff, so this is really nothing new.

Group PvP together with territory control are one of the main ways a sandbox MMORPG can succeed. It allows for a high re-playability value due to clan/guild politics, history of conflict, betrayal and alliances. It also controls resource inflation as gear and property in general gets destroyed. I don’t see how SotA can create a decent sandbox game content without it.

Player control terriotories could allow the guild which controls it access to housing plots other cannot claim and other resources: mines, hunting and gathering grounds. Put it out there and the conflict will bring in the replayability. If you don't take part in it, you can simply stay in the PvE controlled territories. This works well in EVE.

SotA so far offers no real replayble content. Combat and crafting skills progression through gathering and PvE combat is not enough. There are simply far superior titles out there doing it far better. No MMO can build and maintain playerbase through such poor gameplay offering.

That sounds cool but being part of a PvE guild, I would like Factions instead.
