I was lucky enough to party last night with some guildies and we had a party of 4. We struggled at times to keep each other alive however as the healing ray spell countdown timer is so long one person can't really act as a "priest" and stay back and heal we all have to chip in which makes for lots of deaths and play that's not very fun.

So please consider reducing the cooldown on this spell.

    Thanks,

Or try putting your healing spells dynamically if you want to play the healer.

There are many different healing skills which can be used together to heal a group with 1 person. Also consider that specialization in the life school will decrease the cast time and cooldown of healing ray and also increases the effictiveness of all the other life skills.

Healing ray has definitely a short cooldown, just you need life specialization to 80. As @Mac2 suggested, try to make an unlocked deck with 6 healing ray and 6 healing touch +3 more casual gliphs and you ll have infite cast of those 2 skills :p

What the others have said - Healing a party with a locked deck doesn't work - with unlocked its fine - most healing is done by healing ray, with healing blast for extra heals as needed - and keep healing grace on all party members as they take damage too. I generally have one slot for healing touch for self heals.

Searing Ray got a nerf back around R26 or so, because, at least at the time, it was sufficiently stronger than other spells that it became the latest bandwagon skill. They nerfed both its cast time, and its range. I keep around Fire Arrow just so I can have a long-range attack spell. The range nerf actually bothers me more.

@Chris can we maybe get a balance review on Searing Ray now? It's been over two years since that nerf! We couldn't even reasonably use locked decks back then!

Damn, it's too early in the morning. I saw "-ing ray" and read it wrong.

My healing deck is all locked, I manage to do really good even though i'm not speced into that tree. But you will sure need more than only healing ray.

Also, if you do dmg, it will decrease your healing for a while.

Even though it is a bit outdated you can have a look at my guide, I think my overall healing would be enough to keep most groups up in PvE ( maybe not on Clockwork ).
